I've seen a lot of great trailers that turned out to be lousy films, Disney films among them. And I've seen a lot of lousy trailers (Meet The Robinsons and Bolt) that wound up being enjoyable films. In the end, I don't care about the trailer. I just hope the movie is good and that it does well at the box office provided it's good.
So while I may not care much for the trailer, if this has the general public wanting to see the film, then that may not be a bad thing provided this film works. And I make no judgments on that one way or another until I see it.

So now I see why that trailer that was out a while ago did not show the characters. They made at least Rapunzel look different. I don't have high hopes for this, but it still looks like it has potential.

I looks decent enough. They should at least have her have kids like in the orginal. That way Ariel wouldn't be the only one.

I think this looks so cute! I already love the male lead character, whose name escapes me at the moment. And as for Rapunzel, I think I'll like her too.
I was watching a trailer for it on Youtube, and someone was like, "oh it's going to be another Disney princess whose all independent and blah blah..." or something like that. And I was like, um, what? I thought that was annoying. Basically he/she was saying all of the recent Disney princesses/heroines have had stronger personalities. Why not? I don't have anything against Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella, but honestly, they filled the typical damsel in distress description. I think Belle, Meg, Esmerelda, Mulan, Tiana, etc... have been good role models for girls and women in general.
Anyway, I'm excited for this movie! Especially since I liked Princess and the Frog so much. If that movie had disappointed me I would most likely be dreading this since, lets be honest, Disney hasn't been pumping out too many movies that make you stop and go, woah. haha

I just saw my first trailer for this film in Toy Story 3 tonight, the actual title will not in fact be the plain 'Rapunzel' but instead it is titled 'Tangled'.
The human seems as though it could be stupid and Rapunzel to be a childish ditz but I have learned from several past experiences not to judge by first trailers that tell nothing so I have nothing more to say at this time.

Well, being ground like...forever, you're bound to come out a bit like a "childish ditz". I imagine that will have something to do with her character development.

I hope there is full character transition for both Repunzel and Flynn. From the trailers I don't think either are very appealing. I personally would prefer Disney go back to making their leadingf ladies and men more subtle and passionate as opposed to comedic. I feel more sympathy and can relate to the stories easier when their pain is external. Now I don't have a problem with leading characters being fresh and fun. (I love Aladdin and Ariel) But they need to have substance for me to believe in their dilema. Right now this film's tone is coming across as far too light and fluffy for me to become emotionally involved.

I know what you mean. I think an essential part to any story is a strong villain. Most of the time, strong villain leads to a strong hero, which makes for a strong story. We've seen little about a villain to this point. Hopefully, the mystery is that they have a great villain.

I hope that madam gothel will be intersting since she is the villain in the orginial story.

Disney has just released another trailer for Tangled. If you thought the last trailer focused on Flynn, wait until you see this one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHkDAz-s0AEThis trailer is helping to resolve some of my concerns about the film. I like how it has humor, without being grounded in 2010. And with Alan Menken doing the music, I think the film itself will be much more "Disney classical" than the trailers are making it appear.

I really liked the new trailer! I got a much better sense of the story from it. The movie looks fun.
I'd already made up my mind a while back to see this, but that was mostly because it was the new Disney movie. Now I want to see it for it's own sake.

I'm afraid this trailer hasn't done much for me either. This doesn't seem like classic Disney at all. It comes across as more bubblegum pop for tweens. Granted it could still be poor trailer editing, I'm still not coninved I want to see this. I think I'll wait for the critic reviews to come out. But right now it doesn't look promising to me. I'd rather see Legend of the Guardians or The Borrower Arrietty.
Just because Alan Menken is providing the score doesn't mean it will be a great film. Or even soundtrack. (Anybody remember Home on the Range?) Glenn Slater will be provinding the lyrics which could also be a mistake. After doing work on The Little Mermaid on Broadway and Love Never Dies, (The sequel to The Phantom of the Opera) he recieved harsh reviews for his work. He's good but doesn't give out nearly as much depth or passion as the lyricists Alan's worked with before. I wish Alan had teamed up with Tim Rice or Stephen Schwartz again. Now they created beautiful music together.

I could be wrong, but I'm under the impression that the modern music used in the trailers is only there to bring an audience in, but that the film itself will be closer to classic Disney. Time will tell in the end.

There has definately been interesting music choices for the trailers. The second trailer has me more mixed than before. You get to see the more "classic" Disney ideas shining through more, but there still seems something off to me. Honestly, it might just be the animation. I'm sure you all know by now, I am not a huge fan of CGI. There's something particularly bright about this though that almost makes it appear cheesy, I guess. Not entirely sure how to see what my brain is thinking there. Or, it might be Rapunzel herself. I'm not sure what I think of her. I guess I will have to wait and see.
