If you haven't already, check out the link to the concept art for this film. They're going for a hybrid of CGI and the hand drawn look for this film. In terms of artistic vision, I'm more excited for this film than Princess and the Frog.

that concept art is amazing! I do get the feel of CGI and hand-drawn. It is gorgous, I do prefer non-CGI people because honestly, they look more believeable then CGI. but it looks good, I am excited.

I hope at some point (I'd prefer sooner rather then later) the excutives will find other material to create great films other then Fairy-Tales. In this case, I must say I'm very enthusiastic to hear they'll be adapting this beloved story into their own creation. Ever since I was young, this Fairy-Tale has intrigued me. There's actually a dark and lonely tone to it. This could be a great development period fo Disney because this story allows so much room for expansion. The characters can easily be fleshed out as can their dilema and social conflicts. If Disney does their job correctly, this could be a beautifully crafty if not darkly enthralling Fairy-Tale.
I do have mixed feelings about Mandy Moore cast as Repunzel. I understand why they decided not trade up on Kristen Chenoweth. While she has one of the most unbelievable soprano tones on the Broadway stage today. Her speaking voice leaves much to be desired. With no fault of her own, she sounds like a five year old, and would'd be suitable for strong leading lady. A spunky sidekick maybe. Mandy on the other hand provides just enough confidence and willfulness with a touch of sweet nature. Her singing voice is pretty and heck more talented then the tacky poptarts now. (Miley, Selena, Hilary, ect) Yet I think there could be a more raw talented actress and singer out there that could really bring this character to life. I'm not sure why but Emmy Rossum and Natalie Portman keep popping in my head as a good choice for this role. Mandy could be enjoyable but I think she lacks the true passion for a Disney heroine.

I think Mandy Moore is a good actress and singer, but a lot of her acting is physical. You see the emotion on her face. I'm not entirely sure if she can pull the film through just on voice acting.
Is this going to be a musical then?

I'm presuming it will be a musical since most Disney films since The Little Mermaid, especially ones that feature a love story with prince and princess have been musicals. For those who've seen The Princess and the Frog in theaters (I saw it at the Walt Disney Studios and they showed no previews), did Disney show anything for Rapunzel with the film (ala Pixar showing TS3 teasers with Up)?

According to Wikipedia.com the songs will be done by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater. This will also be the 50th Full-Length Animated to come from the Disney Company!

I've heard or seen no teaser or trailer. When is it supposed to be released? They do have a while to release a trailer or teaser, don't they?

Give it till late winter or early spring for a teaser to come out. I expect the trailer will come around the end of the spring or beginning of the summer.

I was hoping we'd get a teaser for this with The Princess and the Frog. After all, they've been advertising The Princess and the Frog since the October 2008 blu-ray/DVD release of Sleeping Beauty.

If this is half as good as Princess and the Frog, then it is going to be great.

The box office struggles of The Princess and the Frog apparently have Disney wondering if audiences are no longer enthralled with fairy tale films. To that end, new web domains have been registered indicating that a title change may be coming to this film. It's roughly 3/4 of the way down the page. There's even a new picture from the film. Possible Title Change for Rapunzel

I really don't care what the title is, as long as it's a good, quality film.

I still honestly believe it has nothing to do with the subject matter of the films. It's the quality Disney has been releasing since 2004. It doesn't speak volumes to the audience anymore. To be honest I'm surprised TPATF hasn't flopped. So far it's made $101 million at the Domestic Box office, and made $168 million worldwide. (With releases still coming in to many countries. The numbers are bound to still rise) It's also recieved many award nominations for Best Animated Film. So at this rate Disney is back on the map, but not in the respected film arena. I'm beginning to wander if there's any quality filmakers left at this studio. (Pixar is probably embarrassed to be partnered with them) Alan Menken is the only one I completley trust. I'm still holding my breath, but how much longer can I do that? Disney you're on thin ice. Get it together or you'll no longer have a respected audience.
