Rapunzel is an upcoming CGI animated film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. Obviously, it is based on the Brother's Grimm fairy tale "Rapunzel". The art style was based on the painting "The Swing"
Cast: * Rapunzel – Kristin Chenoweth * Prince Bastion – Dan Fogler * Narrator – Kevin Linehan * Granny Claire – Pam Hyatt * Young Prince Bastion – Matthew Gray Gubler * Mother Amy – Carolyn Lawrence * Gramps Franklin – Peter Sallis * Father Sam/Mr. Sunton – David Schwimmer * Old Lady/Evil Witch – Grey Delisle I personally am not really one for Disney 3D - but this looks fantastic, and I love Kristin Chenoweth and Matthew Gray Gubler.

Holy smokes Peter Sallis in a Disney film! Amazing For all those of you who don't know who he is, he's probably best known for his work as Wallace from the Wallace & Gromit duo and is most decidedly Yorkshire (My county ) He's also known for his role as Cleggy in the world's longest running sitcom Last Of The Summer Wine - set in little old Yorkshire Sorry that excited me haha I've been seeing little patterings of this here and there and I must say the artistry and animation looks astounding. I shall wait with bated breath for this as I'm not a huge fan of Disney's CG ventures. We'll see

Yup, it definitely looks gorgeous. The animating looks like a 2D 3D hybrid and the cast looks phenomenal. [/blockquote]

The cast sounds great! Hopefully this film will be what Cinderella and The Little Mermaid were for Disney during their darker periods. A film that can commincate well with current audiences but keep the majesty of Classic Hollywood.

I was just reading an article on it wherein Glen Keane talks about going back to its fairytale roots and how they're staying as faithful as possible to it. I think that's an incredibly risky but wise thing to do. I think that with modern audiences fairytales are hard things to sell to them with the thirst for more challenging and in some cases, violent cinema. However I think it's definitely the right thing to do and like you said Silver, hope it begins to bring Disney back in a big way

I really wish this movie was done in 2D, but I am still interested in seeing how this one turns out

I've seen some other shots and it looks stunning. I know somebody on another board who's studying animation at CalArts(founded by Walt Disney for training animators) and she said that Rapunzel is the most impressive thing Disney has in the pipeline right now.

It certainly does look impressive. The cast looks fantastic, the art-style is by far the best thing I have ever seen in 3D. It should be quite a good film. [/blockquote]

Well it is not to be released for quite some time - I have decided to look forward to The Princess and the Frog which is coming in December rather than making myself all antsy waiting for this, or the next Disney/Burton production. [/blockquote]

Yah ,the animation looks amazing. They've had this movie in production for such a long time though, like before 2007. I'm looking forward to The Princess and The Frog as well. I just hope the production gos smoothly on this project and we realy get to see it in 2010!

I could've sworn that I've commented on this page. Maybe partly because of the animation, but Rapunzel reminds me a bit of Fiona from Shrek, but also because in the picture above she has that no nonsense thing going on as well. Disney has also stated that Many Moore will be playing Rapunzel and Zachery Levi will be playing Flynn Rider, a roguish bandit and the love interest. I guess they're tweaking this storyline a bit as well, compared to the more commonly Prince hero. I really wish it wasn't in CGI, and it's not because I hold Disney to a bigger standards, I just don't like CGI. I feel like CGI tries too hard to look real and fails were 2D animations tries to look realistic but still is this whole other world.
