Yeah, that was the idea they were gonna go with at first, and then Elsa having a change of heart about being evil once she got to know Anna a bit better. But by then her curse would have been in effect and she wouldn't have been able to reverse it.

That alternative storyline sounds like it would be a fantasic play. Since Disney was going for a musical approach. I think it best fits a charatcer like Elsa to make her much more then a two dimensinal villain. As the song Let It Go would later help the writers discover. She's multifaceted and that's why I adore her.

I was watching this again earlier and noticed something I hadn't noticed before. At the end, after Anna thaws out, the inside of her cloak has a silvery pattern, like flowers or snowflakes. Was the pattern there in earlier scenes and I missed it, or is it some after effect of Elsa's magic?

I kind of noticed this watching it yesterday but it was only the last quarter or so of it and thus I was not able to check for the pattern earlier but I picked up on something myself. After the thawing Anna no longer has the white lock of hair that was remnant of the childhood incident. You can see this closely when she tells Hans: "The only frozen heart around here is yours!" That's when I noticed it anyway.

It goes away right when she thaws out. My head canon is that it was still a remnant remaining of Elsa's magic from the first accident because Pabbie wasn't able to fully get rid of it when Anna was a child because it wasn't his magic. He alludes in that scene that he can influence it to leave ("The heart is not so easily changed, but the head can be persuaded.") or at least not spread but he can't get rid of it completely. It isn't able to fully disappear until Anna is in the full grip of Elsa's magic and performs the act of true love that is able to dispel the ice completely.

So you are suggesting that when Anna broke Elsa's second infliction on her it was powerful enough to also thaw a small portion of the magic from the first incident in childhood which seemed to have remained in her? Excellent theory.

Excellent theory. Exactly what I'm suggesting. Because I think that if they hadn't altered her memories about Elsa having magic, it might have disappeared sooner.

True because Pabbie did say "Don't worry I'll leave the fun" and I'm guessing a lot of 'the fun' memories involved Elsa using her magic. Which means it was only a portion of most of her memories which was altered.

Almost a year has gone by since this film was released.
I am still as swept up in it as ever! Let It Go always bring me to heavy tears and am laughing just as hard at all of the jokes. Some hinted it was a "trendy fad" soon to be forgotten. I disagree.
I do not love stories unless I am emotionally enthralled. Whether the rest of the world loves them or not. I believe this film has a soulful layering. Strip away the hype and judge it based on the writing. I think there's a personal connection people from all walks of life feel resonates with them. Catchy songs and stunning animation are really the icing on the cake.
Pun not intended. LOL!

Double post- I just heard on the radio today that Barbie has been dethroned as the top toy for parents to purchase for their young daughters this holiday season. Want to guess who has pushed her out of first place?
