Strange. O__O
I feel like the ratings were not as strict as they are now...But I guess they would have adjusted it by now...Maybe not.

That's odd Silver. I wonder if it has more to do with the still misconception that because something is live-action it is more real. That really doesn't matter in a view of a child.

That's a good point, Lexi. I've noticed that kids are very aware of the difference between animation and live-action regardless of the knowing the differences between reality and non-realistic movies.

I think the critics forgot to re-check it. I just saw The Lion King on Disney the other day. They have now put on the TV-PG rating. (When it was on last month, it had the TV-G rating)
I truly don't believe that if a parent watches Enchanted and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. They would give the Pricness film a PG rating just for a small climax and not give THBND the same rating. This film has an undertone involving genocide. There's also se*ual refrences and a visible death in the opening sequence. Not to mention some dark language.

I saw the strangest thing the other month. (Though I just of it recently) While I love this movie to pieces, I always felt it should have been rated PG for it's darkness and intesity. Both The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Enchated were on television. Enchanted recieved a PG-TV rating while THOND remained at TV-G. How weird is that?! But aren't the TV ratings usually the same as the MPAA ratings? If a movie is rated G for the box office, it usually has a G rating on TV. I remember when Hunchback was released that there was some surprise that it was given a G-rating. I think that it was able to get a G-rating because the sexual themes are strongly implied, but not outright stated, and thus fly over the heads of children.

You can adjust TV ratings. The Lion King still holds a G rating as a film (It was exactly the same when I saw it back in 2011)
But when it was on TV yesterday, I saw the TV-PG rating.
Perhaps it's just me but I really don't see how a parent would let a child watch this but not Enchanted. (That film also had se*ual refrences but it was a much lighter tone)
Enchanted is much sunnier and lighter in it's disposition as a film compared to THBOND.

I recently saw this movie for the 2nd time a few months ago. I'm still conflicted over the movie. There are elements that I really, really love about this film, but in other ways, it falls just short for me. I'm still trying to process the darker aspects of the film, which I fully confess is a bit strange as some of my all time favorite movies are Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, The Empire Strikes Back, and Batman Begins/The Dark Knight/The Dark Knight Rises, all of which are either dark films or have pretty heavy dark sequences in them.

Attention fans of The Hunchback of Notre Dame! Disney has confirmed that the Blu-ray of this film will finally be released. On March 12th 2013. I am so thrilled to hear this. This is going to look and sound stunning on my blu-ray player.

One step closer to every animated Disney film having been given a blu-ray release. Looks like it's getting the you must buy the direct to video sequel to own the original treatment like they did with Pocahantas and apparently Mulan and Brother Bear as well.

I really enjoyed this movie back when it first came out - however, I was always mad that Quasimodo didn't get Esmeralda in the first film. It just felt like because he was ugly he couldn't get the really pretty girl you know. Sure, they tried to make up with it in THoNDII I guess, but even still Most Disney characters always seem to get who they like. So watching the scene where Quasi get's all heart broken just kills me! D; Other than that the movie is amazing. I love all the characters and the music score. <3 Late to the party here, but... Phoebus was the only one of the three make leads who saw Esmeralda as a person. Quasimodo idealized her and put her on a pedastal. Frollo only saw her sex appeal and couldn't see past his own prejudices. Phoebus saw Esmeralda as an equal and she responded to that.

I adore this movie! Just bought it the other day to add to my collection, actually.
And I just so happen to agree with your ideology, Butters. Quasi did do just that, and that is all the wrong reasons to like/want a person. If he WOULD had gotten her, it would had been for all the wrong reasons.

Totally with you Butters and Arielle! I love Quasimodo as a charatcer. He's so sweet and gentle. But due to his lack of social bonding, he clung to Esmerlda. He needed more time for other releastionships to develop and grow. Esmerelda saw his puppy-dog eyes and recognized he was bashful but a people-pleaser. She knew it was a rare time for him to hold a civilized conversation with another person. She never took it seriously. She thought of him as a younger brother to take under her wing. Quasimodo does understands this at the end. He wouldn't have made the getsure of Pheobus and Esmerlda linking hands if he did not. He is grateful to have them both as friends and happy for them to have found love in one another.
