I miss the old shows. They were really good. The new shows are just retarded some times. I watch ABCFamily and other channels that show the older Disney shows.

I miss the really old Disney shows like Vault Disney, Ink and Paint Club, Donald's Quack Attack, and shows like that. I'll be really sad if they ever take off Lilo and Stitch!

What's sad, are the only old shows I remember watching are Lizzie Migure, boy meets world, and that one kid's show about the people, and this tree...I barely remember.

I really lament the fact that the Disney Channel rarely airs shows with characters that I've seen and know. I understand that a lot of the shows they air are very popular, but I really wish they would air the old classics too. I don't mind the airing of things like HSM. I know it makes a lot of money for the company and is beloved by people. I just wish that the Disney Channel would realize that they don't have to air shows like HSM 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
When the Disney Channel first came on the air back in the early 80s, they used to air some amazing shows. I was able to see a lot of the old Mickey Mouse club hosted by Walt and the original Mousketeers and they always showed the classic Disney animated shorts. They would also show the old Disneyland and Wonderful World of Disney Shows hosted by Walt himself. Even though Walt died nearly 9 years before I was born, because of these shows, I knew who he was and understood a little bit about his visions and dreams for the parks.
Now, when I turn on the Disney Channel, it seems like they're never airing actual shows featuring actual Disney characters you can meet in the parks. When Toon Disney cannot be bothered to air actual cartoons featuring actual Disney characters, something is wrong. I mean, Batman. Come on!! I loved the 90s cartoon, but he's not Disney. Show me Mickey or Goofy.
I learned today that in the early days of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, they nearly lost the voices of Mickey and Minnie because the voice actors told Disney if Mickey and Minnie didn't start acting like Mickey and Minnie are supposed to, they would stop doing the voices for Clubhouse. Fortunately, Disney listened to them.

I think the Disney Channel started going downhill when it stopped being Pay Per View and became a regular cable channel.
We couldn't afford the Disney Channel when I was a kid, but a few times a year we got free previews and I really looked forward to them. But at some point when I was a teenager it became part of our regular cable package. At first it was still largely what I remembered, but it gradually changed. Disney channel used to be commercial free!
I want the channel I used to see on my free previews back in the 80's! ;_;

the current Disney channel annoys me.
It is all preschool shows in the morning and stuff for the teens and preteens the rest of the time. The preschool stuff is somewhat cute, if badly animated, and educational, but the rest of it makes me sick. Toon DIsney plays some of the old shows in the mornings and early afternoons intermixed with the newer-than-i-remember shows like Lilo and Stitch. I am not fond of the way they play the old shorts, crammed into House of Mouse, but at least they get shown. I absolutely HATE the night and evening shows they have, not of them are Disney and most of them i don't see the point!!
i want the channel Butters remembers too! but that is why i am buying the DVD's of the old shows whenever i can

I only watch the Disney Channel once every few months now because they show the same few shows all day now - I miss Timon & Pumbaa, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Ducktales, and all the classic Disney movies. It's sad that we can only see them on DVD and the internet now...

I miss Toon Disney so very much, as well. The times when you had to pay for it with shows like the ones mentioned and GARGOYLES; one of my favorite television series, ever.

The irony is that Disney is concerned that younger children are growing up unfamiliar with Mickey Mouse. Perhaps they should spend some time watching the Disney Channel and they'll realize that little kids are watching the Disney Channel and seeing very little Mickey Mouse, especially outside of Clubhouse, which is aimed at the younger set.
My nephew is nearly 2 1/2 years old and he loves Mickey, Duck, Minnie, and "Puto." I was watching some of the classic Mickey Mouse cartoons with him the other night and he loved them. Yes, there's a lot he doesn't understand yet, but he loved watching these characters. If the channel bearing Walt's name actually aired a lot more programming with characters Walt created they would be fine. While I have no problem with them airing the programs they do, it seems to me that the channel only airs those types of programs.

When (or if) I have kids I'm going to make sure they see loads of the main Disney characters. I don't want them going to Disney and not knowing any of the characters in the parades.

I'm probably one of the few who still actually enjoys some of the current shows on Disney Channel. They are a fun past time. But I will confess I do miss the shows they don't have available on DVD. I wish The Little Mermaid and Aladdin would come out. But I'm so glad I own my favorites- TaleSpin and Gargoyles!
