I am adding The Conjuring to my list. It looks right up my alley... I love a good horror movie.

I would be ecstatic if Blackfish was released at one of my local theatres. I usually wait for a documentry to released on DVD so I can rent it. This July however does not have any other films that have caught my interest so this would totally be worth spending money on. This has to be ne of the most fascinatng and disurbing pieces (trailer-wise) I've seen so far this year.

How have I missed this thread!
I've seen so much this past week alone! (I have a cinema card with a chain over here, where you pay £13 a month for unlimited films, when a ticket is £7.40, the value is ridiculous!)
So this past week I've seen:
- Monsters University - Loved it. So much fun, looked stunning, not a classic in my opinion, the ending lost a little tension and I would love to have seen Randall used a little more, and some more cameos from Monsters Inc characters maybe, but on the whole I rated it a whole lote more than I thought I would! - Rating: 8/10
- The World's End - As a huge fan of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg (I think their films hold a particular fondness over here for their celebration of what is quintessentially Britishness), I was expecting great things. I was however let down. While it had great comic moments, they aren't a patch on Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. They've unfortunately made a rod for their own backs (as with Pixar) where their films are rated on a completely different scale. Pegg's character is completely unlikeable as him and Nick Frost seem to have kept up the role reversal first seen in Paul. (I for one prefer Nick Frost playing the goofball and Pegg the straight man) and the ending is just awful. The biggest problem with The World's End in my opinion, is that I couldn't, no matter how hard I tried, suspend my disbelief. At all times, I was aware I was watching a film and was at no point, fully immersed in the cinematic world. Rating - 6/10 (and I feel that's potentially generous!)
This Is The End - Was so much better than I expected! Complete gross-out, generally defined as guy humour, but each player sends themselves up brilliantly and the cameos are some of the best since the Zombieland cameo (those of you who have seen it will know what I'm talking about!). A great story and as a big fan of apocalyptic films, I felt this did the balance brilliantly. Craig Robinson NEEDS to be in more films - the guy's hilarious! Also, the ending cameo - amazing, had me rolling in the aisles laughing. Rating - 8.5/10
Pacific Rim - Now normally I don't go for these films about robots, Real Steel was a total snoozefest, and I only enjoyed the first Transformers (mainly for Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime). So I was sceptical. I had 2 reasons for seeing this 1) Guillermo Del Toro, of whom I'm a massive fan and 2) Idris Elba, one of the greatest talents to come out of little island over here, I love him and thin he's a brilliant actor. So luckily, I was pleasantly surprised by this film! Seeing it in IMAX (WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!) was a brilliant choice. Monster movies seem to have dropped off the scale a little in recent years, but Del Toro brings them back to the screen brilliantly. The effects are stunning, and while the script is a little cliche in places, and won't be winning awards, for a couple of hours of rip-roaring fun, where you don't need to necessarily engage your brain - it's well worth it! Rating - 6.5/10
And finally today I saw:
The Wolverine - I'm a massive comics fan, Marvel, etc and in particular X-Men films. I even loved X-Men Origins: Wolverine (I know, for my sins!). I wasn't expecting all that much as the film had a slightly troubled production, no big name mutants were plugged and I felt it was a massive gamble - boy was I surprised! The film has crash landed right into my Top Ten Superhero films of all time! I loved it, it ties in with X-men 3 brilliantly (which at the time, I never thought somebody would follow it!) while working as a fantastic stand alone film. The effects are brilliant and Hugh Jackman continues to crack open Wolverine's head and get right inside! Also - the post credits sequence (which ties in with Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past which is out next year reuniting the original X-Men cast with the First Class cast - SQUEE!) is possibly the greatest post credits sequence a Superhero film has ever had. I cried tears of beautiful, salty joy I was that overwhelmed - SEE THIS FILM! Rating: 8/10
So that's what I've seen haha! Sorry that's so long winded but I haven't been able to talk about them with anyone so thought this looked like a decent place to air my opinions!
Also, saw an extended look at Elysium today - looks amazing! And Snowpiercer, cannot wait for that either!

I'm actually getting anxious for summer to be over. Not very much has intrigued me so far.
My list won't start gaining momentum until September. And speaking of which. I just found out about a new film called The Disappearence of Eleanor Rigby. It stars James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Ciaran Hinds and William Hurt. I'm already sold with this cast but the plot sounds wonderfully gripping. "Told from the seperate pespectives of the leading man and woman. It follows the life of James McAvoy's character as he works at his resturant and Jessicsa's character as she returns to college. A chance encounter will painfully damage their marriage and the rest of their lives."
Plus I'm itching for the American Hustle trailer. It can happen any time now!
