Anytime a published source (especially one as beloved as The Hunger Games) is adapted into a film. The challenge for the creative team is to create an execution that captures the essance. Of course you won't be able to please everyone with casting as such. For me personally, this whole cast is right on the money. I felt the characters have oindeed become of flesh and blood. Aspects must be modified. Sometimes will be for the better. (I loved how they went into the control booth or took a moment to see President Snow's irritatation) When I saw the trailer for the first time. I was so ecstatic since I felt how they edited it made the story come alive. No one is right all the time but in many cases my instincts based on a two minute trailer will be the outcome for the film. My instinct for this said you're going to love it in the Cinema. Two more movies I want to add. 33 Postcards and The East. Most likely I won't be able to watch these in teh Cinema since they're going to be in limited release. So I look forward to the day of their rental. They look so powerful.

Adaptations are very tricky. When done right, they're almost a guaranteed box office success such as Lord of the Rings or The Hunger Games. I do think Catching Fire looks good. For me, unless we're talking about something like Star Wars, I tend to compartmentalize my excitement for upcoming movies. In other words, I can't get too excited about Thor: The Dark World only because Man of Steel is being released first.
I think once we get past the initial rush of summer, I'll start to get excited about the releases later this year including The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug.

I am getting SO excited for Catching Fire! I wish they would release more images of Katniss' wedding dress (I'm hoping to make a replica for a convention so a back image would be a dream :'D) I've been satisfying myself with fanfiction, but I'm running out :c
I'm also so excited for the Great Gatsby - it looks so swish and I get excited everytime I see the trailer on TV!

Kairi- Me too! I loved the red dress Katniss wore on her interview in the first film. The party dress looked great on her from what I saw in the trailer. Even in that heavy make-up Jennifer Lawrence looks fantastic. She can pull off any style.

Aww I liked that dress, but I think they could have done more with it, IMO. Eughhhh she really can! I wish I could be her :'D

I don't remember a wedding scene in Catching Fire. Or did my memory fail me?

I don't remember a wedding scene in Catching Fire. Or did my memory fail me? In the interview with Caesar Flickerman for the Quarter Quell. Cinna creates a dress that seems queite similar to that of a wedding theme. It then transforms into the black dress with a Mockingjay on it as she does her fire type spin she's famous for.

I am really interested in seeing After Earth with Will & Jaden Smith. The pair work great as a father/son acting pair, and I am anticipating great chemistry in this scifi flick.

I think I'll keep After Earth as a rental idea. I did like them in The Pursuit of Happiness though. I wish Will Smith would do more drama. Afterall that is when he gets nominated for an Oscar.
Just heard about a film called You're Not You starring Hilary Swank and Emmy Rossum. I think they'll be incredible together.

Yes, I do miss his drama movies. But there are very few movies I don't like him in!
Oh... has anyone seen the trailer for The Purge? That one looks epic to me... I plan on being there to see that one opening day!

The Purge seems a little too much for me to handel. However I think the concept for the film is quite fascinating.

Oh I must agree. My dad and fiancé are both cops, so the concept of everyone behaving EXCEPT one day a year is quite interesting. And the fact that everyone apparently does so is even more fascinating!
But I would have to try really, really hard not to make anyone mad or make any creepy guy lust after me, because I wouldn't want to be someone on the receiving end of a "purge".
Scary... yet interesting.

Yeah the idea of everybody letting loose their temper and grudges just for twelve hours sounds like it would be more terrifying then violence that happens unexpectedly.
In the trailer it looked like an ax (or a weapon similar to it) hits someone in the face. So my immediate response was it goes on my "movies to avoid" list. Clealy you can see I am sensitive to such violent content.

Ah... See, I like action and horror flicks. So this one proves to be right up my alley. ^^ I will let you know just how gruesome it is when I watch it.

A scale of one to ten would be preferable please.
I'll never forget the night my brother came home from watching Hostel. So he decides it would be cool to describe that film in excrucuiating detail. I think stomach toppled over. (Making queasy face)
