<instert girly squeal here> Finally! I was dying all morning in anticipation. It did not let me down! I loved the character development, the strong story line, and the loveable characters. It had so many great parts that did seem a little more modern than traditional disneys, but we can't expect them to try to relive the golden age all the time. The animation was beautiful, and I have to say, I love the music. I did walk out with "When will my life begin" stuck in my head. I wouldn't go so far to say that it was better than the Princess and the Frog, because it just seemed different. Both really good, but...different categories almost. Altogether, I'm very pleased

In regard to the more modern feel in some places, I'd say it really worked. I liked it because it was subtle. If they had overdone it with the modern gags, I would have been very disappointed. It was all classy--save for the Cupid. I liked it.

I think Tangled did a very good job of feeling modern while remaining timeless. I believe that feel will help Tangled age nicely.

This movie, "Tangled", displays many pieces of humor, which did make me laugh throughout the movie. Although, "Tangled", does represent a repetitive and lagging plot. Despite the humor, it did contain repetitive dialog and bland character's. Furthermore, "Tangled" is a movie that your 1 year old daughter will enjoy, but if you have a child over the age of 4 this movie will be a boring sitcom to them This movie contains mainly not dry humor but even wet humor and is the least bit dramatic and has a plot that I would not recommend to somebody fond and familiar with a good film.

^^ But they are entitled to their opinion regardless of what the majority thinks and believes.
I'm not going to see this until it's on DVD. I'd rather spend my money on films I'm more enthusiastic about. This one simply doesn't appeal to me compraed to other options playing in the Cinema right now.

I never said they weren't entitled to their opinion. That's just the first negative review of Tangled I've seen. And most of the reviews I've read were from film critics as opposed to Disney fans.

The person who posted that negative review appears to be a bot or a troll, based on their other posts and profile info.
I saw Tangled last week and loved it! Loved it! It was wonderful.
I think CGI was the right choice for this movie. It's like any other sort of artwork, you have to choose the right medium.
I liked the humor; it wasn't nearly as contemporary as the trailers made it seem and was far less modern compared to Aladdin and Hercules.
The characters were wonderfully likable. Flynn and Rapunzel have both jumped to very high spots on my lists of favorite Disney heroes and heroines. Rapunzel was just the cutest thing!
I liked the music too. It wasn't as memorable as some other movies, but it was very solid. There weren't any real show stoppers, but none of the songs were duds either. I Have a Dream and Mother Knows Best are probably my favorites since they have an unexpected quality to them.

Disney has announced that Tangled will be released on Tuesday March 29, 2011 with 3 different options for purchase.
Option 1: combo pack Blu-ray 3-D, Blu-ray, DVD, & digital copy
Option 2: combo pack with Blu-ray & DVD
Option 3: DVD
Bonus features are as follows:
DVD:
2 Storybook openings
50th animated feature countdown
Blu-ray:
All DVD features plus:
3 deleted scenes

I'm hoping that the 9 teasers are the viral videos released on youtube such as Smolder, the Frying pan infomercial spoof, and the assorted character background stories they did.

This movie was great! ^.^ I really liked Flynns character. <333 Though I do wish it would've been like the princess classics. I'm really not a but fan of CGI. But I did like it. ^.^

So, I've been away for too long but having seen Tangled this afternoon, I've come rushing back!
I wasn't blown away by the trailers of Tangled but with it being Disney's 50th I knew that it was going to be something of note and something that I just had to see. My expectations, which were admittedly low, were absolutely more than met, I was simply blown away.
I think the thing for me that really clinches this film is the animation. I've never been a great fan of Disney's CGI efforts (except Meet The Robinsons) but the way they've approached the animation here, in no small part I suspect of the efforts of Glen Keane, is so obviously Disney and yet feels so fresh and new. I think it's the detail in the eyes and face, that characteristic feel of Disney is there, more so than any of the other CGI pieces. I also love how they haven't used "big" names to draw in a crowd but relied more upon actors with the right voices for the characters, something of which could have gone in the opposite direction. Finally, the music. When I came out of the cinema I couldn't honestly remember any of the songs, I knew I'd enjoyed Mother Gothel's song but I couldn't even remember the title at the time, let alone how it went. However, I got home and downloaded the soundtrack and have completely changed my opinion! The broadway feel of the songs is something I feel of great benefit. I wish there'd been a few more songs in the same styling of Mother Knows Best, I feel the songs are a little "light" in comparison but still great numbers which you can definitely feel harken back to the classic numbers of Disney.
All in all, I loved it!

I haven't seen this yet and don't plan to until after it's released on DVD. But there was something I was curious about. For those who have seen this film, how would you describe Alan Menken's score? (Not the songs)
There's very few scores Mr.Menken has written that I haven't grown fond of. I recently purchased the soundtrack to HBOND and can't stop listening to it. He's always said the joy of being a composer is picking out and experimenting with a different musical vocabulary. Yet sometimes it seems I listen even more to the score then the songs. Music is language understood by everyone. And Alan Menken's music was always very special to me.

I'm angry that the regular DVD does't offer deleted scenes!!! Anyways, I just wanted to comment about Mother Gothel. Does anybody else see the resemblance to Frollo here? I think that's what makes her such a scary villain- she is quite realistic. I think we've already discussed somewhere on here that parents have been upset over the consusing and potentially misleading relationship between her and Rapunzel. She is scary, but I don't see it being that big of a deal. It was pretty clear why she was the villain and her selfish motives, and even if that has to be explained to children I see no harm.

Yeah, I think the difference between her and Frollo though is Gothel genuinely on some level, does seem to care for Rapunzel, whereas Frollo never seems to show real love or warmth. I'd love to see their relationship a bit more before Rapunzel starts questioning leaving the tower. I have to say I was conflicted over her as a character, there were moments where I really liked her character but then I found myself correcting myself "No Elliott she's the villain", in my opinion she's one of Disney's greatest villains of all time, fantastically interesting.

Eliott, I know what you mean. The trailers for this film gave a lot of Disney fans a tremendous amount of concern, but the film itself felt like a classic in terms of character, story, and heart. The music fit the film wonderfully.
Silver, I really like the score. There are moments where I can see in my mind's eye the exact scene from the film. I particularly like the score from "Waiting For The Lights" because it leads into the beauty of the "I See The Light" scene, which to me is the moment where Tangled soars.
I don't think Gothel cared for Rapunzel except for what Rapunzel could give her. She reminds me of Lady Tremayne. She has no magical powers, but uses her "authority" to oppress the heroine, but instead of being outright cruel to Rapunzel, she hides her cruelty under the guise of protecting her.
