Oscar nominations are in and Enchanted received 3 of them for Best Original Song.
Happy Working Song
That's How You Know
So Close
It's nice to see multiple songs from a Disney movie nominated for the Oscars again. It's been far too long.

Sweet! I forgot about the oscars. XD Here's hoping one of the songs will win!
When was the last time multiple songs from a Disney movie was nominated for an oscar?

Oh wow, I just downloaded So Close the other day. I absolutely love it, I am so glad it was nominated.

I'm almost 100% certain that The Lion King had multiple nominations. I know that Beauty and the Beast did. There could be a more recent one, but I'm not sure.

As far as my reserch goes Beauty and the Beast & The Lion King were the only two animated films to have three songs nominated for an Oscar. B&TB had "Belle", "Be Our Guest", and "Beauty and the Beast" nominated while TLK had "Circle of Life" (which I personally thought should have won) "Hakuna Matata" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight". It's quite a coveted response when the Academy gives so much attention to one film with several songs up for grabs at the awards.
I'm so glad Enchanted is recieving so much recognition for it's music. Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz are very deserving in this catagory. Although I think "Happy Working Song" recieving a nomination wasn't nesassary. I don't think it was nearly as strong or memerable as "That's How You Know" or "So Close". Plus I think "Guarenteed" from Into the Wild or the title song for Grace be Gone were much more worthy candidates. But oh well. By the way, Enchanted also won the award for "Best Live Action Family Film" at theCritics Choice Awards. Yay! At least the studio can walk away with something prestigious.

I would have gone with Happy Working Song over So Close because Happy Working Song is very clever(and quite twisted in a clean, fun Disney way).

"So Close" took a bit to grow on me, but now that it has, I'd say it's definitely Oscar worthy. But, I won't discount the other songs, either.

Best song can be a funny thing at the Oscars. The thing that sets Happy Working Song apart in my mind is lines like this: Trill a cheery tune in the tub as we scrub a stubborn mildew stain. . . We'll keep singing without fail otherwise we'd spoil it, hosing down the garbage pail and scrubbing up the toilet.
It's a twisted kind of glee(if twisted is even the right word) to hear lyrics about cleaning up a messy bathtub and toilet sung by a character who's a mix of the first 3 princesses with just a touch of Mary Poppins thrown in.
Of the songs nominated, my choice would be Happy Working Song because it is so clever and unique. While I love the music from this movie(and indeed consider True Love's Kiss to be my favorite), Happy Working Song is unlike any other song nominated because it only works in a film like Enchanted. The other nominated songs, though brilliant in their own right could be inserted into many a Disney film without much effort. But Happy Working Song is a parody of songs from Snow White, Cinderella, and just a touch of Sleeping Beauty's I Wonder.

It'll be interesting to see how things work out at the Oscars this year. Its great to see how many nominations that this excellent film has received this year. I'm looking forward to seeing how it will do. I have to admit that I cannot wait until Enchanted comes out on DVD. I will be getting it right away and watching it as soon as I get home. I can't wait to see what special features are on the DVD. I really really like this film.

I wish the D Files was also available on the regular DVD version, but it sounds to me like they're really emphasizing blu-ray, so this may be the norm now. Guess it means I need to get a new TV and blu-ray player. Grrr.

Sarah.. I totally agree with you! I hope they win something! And I will get it on DVD straightaway too.
That sounds so exciting BRP! I really disappointing that the D-Files are only on the blue-ray disc. Why are they pushing that so much? I don't understand

Blu-ray is a higher quality high definition format so I think that's why. Soon most U.S. TV sets must be HD compatible, so it's also meshing with that. Honestly though what really disappoints me is how they've been skimping on the DVD releases lately. I, for one, love the 2 disc releases with commentary tracks, trailers, documentaries, and so forth about the film. They're probably going to release 2 disc sets someday, but I'd rather not have to wait that long and I'll end up with 2 copies of the film.

It is wierd that they don't just use HD.. And I agree about the skimping on the discs. I love all of the extra stuff and I don't want to end up with 2 copies of the movie either.
