I just got back from seeing this movie and I loved it.
I shall write more about it later as right now I've very hungry and light headed. I just wanted to get a head start at making this thread. <.<; ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The movie opens with Cinderella’s castle and then zooms into a window to a story book on a stand. The book opens to revel the story in a pop-up book fashion and the narration starts. From there we meet with our heroin, Giselle, in a little cabin surrounded by her animal friends.
Now I don’t want to give a lot away but from the opening I knew I was going to love this film. It has a ton of stuff for every Disney fan out there. The story did not take long in starting. I hate when movies start out slow then pick up pace this did not. Right from the get go it had me hooked. It was wonderful to see Disney hand drawn animation again up on the big screen. Even if it only lasted for about 15 minutes it was still breath taking. The music was of course wonderful. I’m going to be having the songs in my head for a long time to come. I so want to get the soundtrack!
This movie is indeed worth seeing for all Disney fans! I could write more about this film but I do not want to spoil it for anyone.
For everyone who has seen the movie please MARK ALL SPOILERS!

I posted the same thing at a communty on LJ and someone wanted more feedback (likes and dislikes) so I'll just copy and paste what I commented back. Still spoiler free. Later on I'll be posting spoilers for those that wish to spoil themselfs.
What I liked: the music the characters the dragon the ending
What I disliked: could have spent more time with the evil step-queen move to the climax seemed a little rushed

I went in with high expectations and the film met and exceeded them. First, the film had a fantastic cast. I didn't know much about Amy Adams or James Marsden, but the more I saw, the more I liked. I had high expectations for Idina Menzel. I was just disappointed that she didn't get a bigger part...but she was great! And Susan Sarandan exceeded my expectations as Narissa. I was blown away! As for the animation, I haven't been this impressed by animation since Mulan. I have given CGI a try and I'm sorry, but traditional animation is better in that the animators can put more of themselves into the characters. They came close in Ratatouille, but again, they haven't done this well with animation since Mulan. Regarding music, the team of Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz delivers another command performance. I haven't enjoyed music on a Disney film this much since Hunchback. I was thoroughly impressed with the songs and the score. What a performance! The film is a treat for classic Disney fans, as the film overflows with Disney references. Disney voices of the past make cameos, music from past Disney films can be heard, and scenes from classic Disney films can be seen. The watchful eye can even spot subtle Disney references. There is a lot more to say about this film, but there is not enough time because I have to leave in a few minutes. Happy Thanksgiving, y'all. I know some of y'all had thanksgiving last month, but y'all can celebrate, too. Always something to be thankful for.

ahhh!!! I just saw this and I am in love!!! I didn't see the beginning though.. I came in just as soon as Giselle came to New York . It just gives me a reason to go see it again ;D I loved the music!! I loved everything, even though it was a tad prodictable it was still so cute. It kept me wondering what the next Disney reference would be. I really liked how they used the pop-up book for the beginning and end to bring the classic beginnings back, just with a slightly different style. That's how the whole movie was, classic with modern touches. It was so funny. Having Jodi Benson in the movie was great and Page O'Hera's part was incredibly small.. I thought her's was going to be bigger. when I watched the credits.. I didn't realize the background music they played. So I want to see it again for that because it said that some of the songs (inturmental I am guessing) were Part of Your World and Beauty and the Beast. Nancy Tremaine.. I loved that they named her that.. even though she wasn't mean like Lady Tremaine.. it is still a reference to being a step-mother. and I don't know what any of you guys that saw it thought, but I thought that animated Queen Narissa had similar mannerisms to Yzma. I was so excited for this movie and it left me excited. I really do think this is one of the best movies. It is just so funny, so sweet, and so amazing!

Yay!! I saw this film yesterday, and couldn't wait to write a review for you guys, but we went to Disneyland right after. Bummer, haw? Hehe. There are no spoilers, in the first section because I want this to be of aid to you guys, possibly. Like all of the above, I was excited that the movie was starting out well, hopeful for a great movie (it turned out that it was). I loved the music, the little tidbits of humor, and the great cast! Amy's mannerisms were soo wonderful! Her facial expressions, hand movements, the way she walked, and her voice inflections all created a character that nobody could dislike. Prince Edward and Robert were great characters who foiled each other beautifully. I was hoping that there would be more musical numbers, because the few that there were I loved. I was disappointed when Idina didn't sing either ____________________________________________________ (Spoilers) I thought that the ending had a nice twist, but I still found it kind of predictable. However, I didn't like how Giselle and Prince Edward sang together in the beginning, with the ability to finish each other's duet. To me, I thought that was so romantic, and a way for them to tell that they were meant to be. Yet when Giselle later forgot the rest of the lyrics, this was the clue that they clearly were not mean to be together. I didn't like that. Although Edward's character was egotistical and corny, they seemed to be perfect for one another. I know, I know, it wasn't realistic for them to wan to be married in one day, but I think that's what I love about Disney. It gives hope for true, that it's out there for everyone, all you need to do is find your other half.
I did like that they mixed reality/fantasy with everything (cartoon-live, Edward's romance-Robert's practicality). And in the end, everything was intertwined. So yes, the movie was wonderfully romantic, but I think I would have preferred Giselle to have stayed just friends with Robert. ____________________________________________ I can't wait to get my hands on the soundtrack and memorize the main title "True Love's Kiss". I am excited to own this movie in the near future, which is something I haven't said in a while for a Disney movie. This one's up there at the top of the Disney movies, guys. You wouldn't loose anything by watching it, in fact, you might gain something.

(sorry, didn't think about doing that :/) Edit: There were some things I forgot to say in my commentary I thought that the film could have been longer, which may have enhanced it. There was only about 15 minutes of animation, and I would have loved to see more. The character's backrounds, I felt, could have been included - but they weren't a necessity. I was also surprised to see that Enchanted had a few lines with sexual references, although not enough to ruin the moments. It was just rather odd to hear references to that in a children's film. Perhaps their guards are weakening? Nothing was strong, or worth worrying about; it was just something that I noticed and a bit bothered by. The soundtrack is already in stores now

I saw the first viewing at my local theater because I could no longer contain my patience. Was it worth it? ABSOLUTLEY! I now adore this film to death! I can't wait to have the oppertunity to see it again with my friends. This is by far my favorite film this year. While the plot was predictable in every way for me, it was one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much. I knew I would see a film with a feel-good time attached and a smile would be left on my face. Amy Adams gave a spectacular performance as the optemistic & bright but naieve Giselle. Not since her Oscar-nominated performance in Junebug has she won me over to believe she has the ability to reach the staus of an A-list actor. She has exeeded my expectations by far! Her deep understanding of the character's innocence, simpilcity, positive attitude, and joy was shown clearly in every step of her journey. I hope she recieves a Golden Globe nomination. Patrick Dempsey pleasently surprised me by being the strait-man in the role of a cynical but compassionate lawyer/father. He had a few good-liners and was likable through and through. James Marsden was probably the most colorful as well as clever performer in the whole film. He embodied Prince Edward in every piece. He truly had me looking at a self-centered, cocky but brave prince who was on mission. The short see animation was lovely to behold. Not since Brother Bear have I precieved animation as magical like I did when I was a little girl. While CGI is brilliant in it's own way, it never quite reached me with the same essance of heart and soul. The music was glorious! While I do wish more musical numbers could have been involved, I was very content with the material within the film. Each song has it's own flare and spark. "First Kiss is an easy-listening ballad with fairy-tale written all over it. "Happy Working Song" is a soft but witty number with fun being the point of it. "How Does She Know" is a marvelous showtune scene with wonderful choregraphy and cinnematgraphy. "So Close" is beyond romantic. It has such a sweet disposition I nealy cried with happiness. And finally "Ever Ever After" is great closing song that captures and embraces the film as a whole. The pop/country ballad vocals by Carrie Underwood were one of her best. You could feel her own message residing along with the lyrics. Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz deserve more then just a pat on the back, they deserve a standing ovation! Splendid is all I can say. I don't recommend films too often to a general audience, but this one is the perfect family-film this holiday season. You'll find humor, a little adventure, lovable characters, incredible music and a wonderful story that will leave feeling giddy, bubbly and filled with pleasure. Such a treasure on so many levels!
