We have very similar tastes in movies, it seems! Is there a movie you've seen in theatres recently (maybe this winter?) that really impressed you, or one you can't wait to see?

Where do you shop most often and why?

Lexi- Well, I was kinda heartbroken when Jo and Laurie didn't work out. I understand why they didn't and why Jo and Friedrich do, but I was really rooting for Jo and Laurie. Overall they're a fine couple, it's just not exactly how I wanted it to turn out.
Pride - One of the disadvantages of being in college is I don't see a lot of movie trailers or movies. I saw Leap Year, Princess and the Frog, and Nine this winter. Princess and the Frog was my favorite out of those. I want to see When in Rome, but I probably won't. To be perfectly honest I'm not sure what else is out right now.
Skeleton Grin - I most often shop at the Cage, which is where you can buy food on campus. Besides that, I try to only spend money on necessities, which I buy at Walgreen's because it's within walking distance.

I can always help you with that. I'm a film-fanatic! Besides the movies you mentioned and Up, have you seen or heard of any of the films nominated at the Academy Awards?

Oh, and I saw Avatar, which was pretty epic. I can't believe I forgot about that one. I also forgot I saw Sherlock Home. I've also seen Julie & Julia, most of Coco Before Chanel and The Blind Side. I've heard of Up in the Air, Invictus, The Lovely Bones, Inglorious Bastards, Precious, Coraline, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Hurt Locker, Food Inc., District 9, Star Trek, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

I agree with you about Jo and Laurie, I was totally hoping for that couple to happen. It just seemed so natural. But yes, I can understand why they wouldn't work and how her and Friedrich might be better.. but still. And I am in the same situation as you with the movies. At college I hardly ever see trailers or what not.
Out of the movies you have just heard about and didnt see, which would you like to have seen the most?

Go see Up in Air and rent The Hurt Locker! haha. In my opinion, they were the best quality made films this year.
Do have a favorite "original" musical? (As in the show is not based on any published source)

Lexi - I think Coraline marks my number one out of those films on my to see list. Not that the others don't sound good, but I think it's really intriguing.
Silver - I can't honestly say I even remember what The Hurt Locker is about and my parents didn't like Up in the Air. But I'm not them, so who knows. Er, could list a couple examples? Rent, for sure. What about historical events? I really like The Sound of Music and Parade. I really can't think of any.

Well the reason I asked you is because I don't know of too many musicals that were completley original. In another thread you said Disney should try to create an original musical. But the majority of musicals that have been released were based on other published sources. Rent was based on the opera called La boheme, and The Sound of Music is based on the memoir "The Story of the Trapp Family Singers". As far as I know Parade is the only one listed that was written from scratch originality.
In reagards to whether or not you would enjoy The Hurt Locker. I should ask this. Are sensitive to the war in Iraq?

Maybe original was too broad of a word. It would be nice to see a musical that wasn't already thoroughly outlined for them from their previous films. Somehow, for me, it's hard to take them as seriously as other companies in that aspect.
As far as the war in Iraq, I guess I'm sensitive to it. As much as I wish I were, I'm not someone who is really involved in politics or the war in Iraq. But I am frustrating with it and feel like we haven't really moved in any direction of purpose in awhile, so that's aggravating.

In that case I'm not sure you'll enjoy The Hurt Locker very much. It's raw, disturbing, and showcases some dark secrets about our military. I personally love it because it doesn't shy away from the truth. It shares the gripping hostile nature of what happens on a day-to-day basis.
Were there ever any war movies you enjoyed?

I honestly don't think I've seen any war movies. If I have, apparently they haven't stood out to me. I take that back, I saw the Alamo when it came out. Did not enjoy that very much, but I'm not sure if it was because it was a war film or because it was just really dry for my preferences. I've seen Fog of War, which is more like a documentary and isn't really about actual military, war images. I didn't love that either. I enjoyed the Patriot a lot. Not on my top favorite movies but I did enjoy it. King Arthur is a bit of a war film, although a different kind. I liked that but I actually perferred the Patriot over it. I did not like Dr. Strangelove what's so ever but that might have to do with the directing style of the film. I haven't seen Private Ryan, Forest Gump or Pearl Harbor although it is on my to do list.

Megara - I'm honestly rather shocked. I kinda feel bad because I really haven't been all that active for the month of March. It's been kinda crazy. But I'm really honored and appreciated to have gotten it.
Silver - To a point yes, but I think a lot of that comes with the teachers I've had. I tend to be a bit of a goody-two-shoes, so schooling has always been important and I've tried hard to get good grades. On that note, I don't think I'm smarter than the rest of the world or anything like that. I know a lot of people who are smarter than me. I might even get better grades than them but that's just because I try. I've had to try hard to get the grades I've gotten. I also grown to like knowledge and, for the most part, I enjoy learning. I also have a lot more to learn.
