Ohhh! I don't know. I loved the lion king and was in the front row, and I saw Mary Poppins yesterday in like seventh row! It was amazingggg.

Well I saw Beauty and the Beast ages ago, but it's still left a lasting memory. I remember the scene where the old woman turns into the Enchantress. I thought that it was amazing, like the most magical thing I'd ever seen as it was so seamless. Then again, I was quite young, so maybe it wasn't, but I remember it as being so. =]

I too have only seen The Lion King, but I was truly blown away and I think I would have picked that one anyway. Silver gave it a great review, I totally agree with her.

Now looking back on my post, I think I was a little too biased. While "The Lion King" is my favorite, I think "Beauty and the Beast" was the most well made. While I saw it years ago, it remains vivid in my mind-set. And seing clips, hearing the album, and doing a tad of reserch, I think this show deserves the most recognition. It remains the most faithful the original material, the songs seem to fit perfectly with the stage craft, (even the new ones) and the stage design seemed to literally transfer right from the film.
The Lion King on the other hand (from a critical standpoint) doesn't quite project the same majesty. I think the story doesn't have the same essance or soul as some other Broadway shows I know of. (See Les Miserables or The Phantom of the Opera for an example) While I do respect the effort to expand the film's holes and cover up flaws, it seems a bit overshadowed by the visuals. While the visuals were gorgous, they shoulden't have been magnificence. And same goes with the music. Very lovely, fresh, inavative and clever but it doesn't feel as honest as the film was. It just didn't have the same spark.
From a fan's perspective it's brilliant, but from a critic's eye there was a bit of magic missing. Beauty and the Beast on Broadway actually topped the film for me. That really did do the film justice if not more.

I'm going to have to say Beauty and the Beast. ESPECIALLY when Susan Egan had played Belle, the first Belle. I've watched videos of Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, and I've gotta say, Susan Egan has an amazing, Broadwayish, "fun" voice (also Megara in Hercules).

I like Aida best as a musical on Broadway. I can see all the others at any other time, and while I recall enjoying Beauty and the Beast on stage, I really like the animated versions of those films just fine. Aida COULD have had better music (they set themselves up for a passionate finale song, but instead, they decided to go with a kinda wimpy reprise) but I liked it.

I won't vote because I haven't seen any of them, but music wise, I really love Beauty and the Beast. I've heard wonderful things about The Lion King, but I know nothing for myself. There is also The Little Mermaid which I've also listened to, and I'm in love with the song "She's in Love". Man, I could just keep listening to that song! As for BATB, I definitely feel that "Home" is the best song.

Although The Little Mermaid isn't on the list and is still my second fav to The Lion King and isn't as extravagant as Beauty and the Beast. I've still fallen in love with it! I'm actually very impressed with the new collection of songs from the musical. They flow almost seamlessly from the classic songs audiences know and love. As well as the conclusion, character development and performances. Especially Sierra Boggess as Ariel! She's brilliant! While the show itself didn't exeed my expectations, it's still beauitful in it's own right.

I voted for Tarzan. It was by far the most memorable of all shows I've seen. I have seen Beauty and the Beast and the Little Mermaid. Both shows were disappointing because they are my two facorite movies.
Beauty and the Beast - I didn't like how they moved the ball room scene into a rose garden, as that particular scene is central to the movie itself. Though, to their credit, the special effects as far as changing from the beast into the prince was fantastic.
The Little Mermaid - They moved things around >.> That seriously bugs me. And some of the music was so-so. I also don't like the actress they have playing Ariel at the moment either

The Lion King is absolutely amazing to me, mostly because of the songs and score... although everything else is pretty great as well. I plan on hopefully seeing the touring version in Indianapolis next month. :]
