I must say I'm surpirsed nobody has created a thread for this film yet.
Into the Woods is a musical fantasy with music by the beloved Broadway composer and lyricist Stephen Sondiem. (Also known for the musicals Sunday in the Park With George, Sweeney Todd and A Little Night of Music) This film is based off of the 1987 Broadway production. It is a fantasy genre crossover piece that is centered on a childless couple who are cursed by a witch. They set out end it and along the way they meet several famous fairy-tale characters such as Cinderella, Jack from jack in the Beanstock, and Little Red Riding Hood among others. However they all discover that with life (even in a fairy-tale) there is a range of emotion when lives intersect. From joy to heartbreak to silliness.
The cast and creative team are as follows- Directed by Rob Marshall (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) Written by James Lapine (book writer for The German version of Disney's The Huchback of Notre Dame msucial)
Mery Streep is the Witch
Emily Blunt is the Baker's Wife
James Cordin in the Baker
Anna Kendrick as Cinderella
Daniel Huttlestone as Jack
Chris Pine as Cinderella's Prince
Johnny Depp as the Big Bad Wolf
Lilla Crawford as Little Red Riding Hood
Christine Baranski as Cinderella's Stepmother
Tracey Ulman as Jack's Mother
Machanize Mauzy as Repunzel
Billy Magnussen as Repunzel's Prince
and Simone Russel Beale as the Narrator
They just started filming this a little over a month ago. So no trailer for awhile. But it's set release date on December 25th 2014.
So anybody interested?
(And for the record this will not be like ABC's Once Upon a Time)

Wow, can I just say how amazing the cast looks already? I'm intrigued! This is the first I've heard of it.

Having been a fan of Into the Woods and Stephen Sondheim for a really long time, I've been keeping tabs on this movie for quite a while now. Right now (based on the cast and a leaked script shared on Broadwayworld.com) my expectations for this movie are low. I feel like the cast could've been better (I'm particularly confused as to why Jack and Little Red are played by such young actors, as in the stage production they are both around 17/18 - which makes sense, due to both their roles being somewhat mature). Anna Kendrick (from what I can tell in Pitch Perfect and other videos) is an alto, while Cinderella is a soprano role...? And I don't know the rest of the cast well enough vocally to judge (except for Lilla Crawford - I think she'll be good, despite the fact that she's still a bit young but whatever, she's way better than Sophia Grace). {Spoiler}Judging from the script I read, a couple of key songs were cut and so was an incredibly crucial role in the stage production (The Mysterious Man). The relationship between the Witch and Rapunzel is watered down. Without a full development on their relationship, plus the complete lack of one between the Baker and the Mysterious Man, they are risking losing most of the heart and soul of what the musical is. Despite all this, I will go see it. Hopefully they'll pull it off.

Joy- I'm actually not familar with several of thse actors (othern then the obvious big names) so hopefully this fresh viewing will allow for a more enjoyable experience.
Do I think this will top the spectacular performance that was filmed in the theatre? Highly unlikely but I am still making this apart of my "films I must see in 2014" list.
But I will agree with you in regards to Anna Kendrick. I think this is a big miscast. My fingers are tightly crossed she'll prove me wrong and she'll have the vocal chops to pull it off.

Double post.
At this rate. I'll take a simple Teaser Trailer. I hope it's attached to Maleficent as that's apart of the fairy-tale genre. This is the Disney film I'm most looking foreward to in 2014.

This is the first I am hearing of this but it sounds brilliant! I'll agree that I don't really see Anna Kendrick as a Cinderella type of actress but I hardly know her performing so can not appropriately judge. I've seen Pitch Perfect once (can't say I'm a fan) and from what I can recall she has a pretty good singing voice but she feels to me like more the type for a Cinderella role like Selena Gomez's version was. Perhaps that's just because the only other role I know her in is Twilight, in which she had a shallow teenage role with something of a Disney Channel feel to it. So as I said not an appropriate judgement. I suppose we shall see.
I am anxious to see a trailer for this film.

I wonder if Disney is doing some clean up work on any special effects in post production? It's the only explanation I can think of as for why a trailer has not been released.

I'm not at all familiar with the story other than the synopsis I've read. Looks interesting, so I'll probably check it out eventually.
