How do you know?
Oh and Owen Wilson would be better off as an Pixar Character because as Silver said: the dog had more emotion than him.

Disney released news that it's going to be taking place in Japan, Germany, Italy, France and England and there's a new character named Fin McMissile. Why do I think that he's going to be McQueen's racing competitor?

Actually it appears that Finn McMissile is an English secret agent, akin to James Bond, and that there's a case of mistaken identity with him and Mater. I'd presume what with having Timothy Dalton in Toy Story 3, himself an ex-Bond, it wouldn't surprise me if they re-used him here.
It's also interesting to note that on wikipedia, obviously I understand it's very unlikely that its fact, Robin Williams and Christopher Plummer have been listed as taking over from George Carlin and Paul Newman respectively. Interesting choices don't you think?

Chistopher Plummer (in my opinion) is one of the best actors working today! His recent performances in The Last Station, Up, The New World, and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus easily mark him as a vetran actor whose craft equals quality performance. Paul Newman was such a celebrated actor who also had a highly respected collection of performances that audiences immediatley felt attached to. So to replace him is a difficult task to say the least. While of course it's nearly impossible to match his heart-tugging performance as Doc Hudson. I believe that if his character is going to featured in the story an actor must supply a similar spark. I firmly believe Mr. Plummer has the experience and lyrical talent to fill those enormous shoes.
Robin Williams on the other hand has been putting out some low quality performances lately. So I'm unsure about how I feel with him being involved.

It's always a huge risk to replace an actor. The wrong choice can derail a franchise entirely. In this case, if Doc Hudson and Sarge are important parts of the story, then Pixar needs to choose voice actors who can bring the characters to life the way Newman and Carlin did. While vocal similarity is important, it's better to have a slightly different voice that nails the character than a spot on impersonation of the voice that misses the character. Voice over acting is a lot more complicated than someone merely reading lines.

does sound good but what is puzzling me is why do a sequl*sp* even thought first cars movie was good in the first place I think it's for the money. Their merchandise sells very well even if the film didn't. While I really enjoyed the original, it was Pixar's weakest storyline to date. Critics and even several Pixar fans were less then pleased. Espically compared to the brilliance and heartache written for their classics such as Toy Story, Wall-E, and Up. And right now this sequel plot sounds even less impressive. They should have just left it where it was and moved on to another original piece. It will probably be finacially successful simply because it's Pixar. But I can easily see it flopping with both critics and audiences. I think John Lasseter is getting cocky.

A possible update on when we can expect a trailer. Wikipedia's entry on Cars 2 indicates that the trailer for Cars 2 will be on the Toy Story 3 blu-ray/DVD release on November 2, 2010.
Keep in mind that Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, so this information may not be accurate.

Pixar has released a teaser trailer for this film on youtube. Be aware that it's about 30 seconds long, shows no new footage for the film, but does confirm a rumored plot point. Cars 2 TeaserOne line made me laugh and has me looking forward to this.

So...this is real? Pixar's big summer movie is a sequel to Cars? I'm so disappointed, I could almost cry. I was really hoping Cars 2 was a joke.

Sorry Butters. It's become official. Pixar has fallen vitcim to the sequel trap. Toy Story 3 was excellent! However as I've said for a long while, Toy Story was a saga that had the potential to be great from the beginning. And the writers full-filled that potential 100%.Cars was by far Pixar's weakest storyline and overall film to date. It's being done purely for money. No question about it.
When I saw the orginal a couple of years ago. I found it rather enjoyable. But always knew in the back of my mind it wasn't anything special. Now that I've watched it several times. I understand why so many people are critical of it. Especially teh casting of Owen Wilson as the lead. He has no emotional honesty whatso ever. (Paul Newman was the only true substance in the original piece) This sequel seems have taken it down another notch.
My gut instinct is telling me next year will be the first year since 2007 (when the orignal Cars was nominated) that Pixar will not win the Best Animated Film award at the Oscars. I'm sure Dreamworks will be ecstatic about that.
Honestly, if I had to choose. I'd much rather see the new Winnie the Pooh film.
