Yep that's right. Several sites are listing Cars 2 as an upcoming Pixar feature, due for release in 2012. Other than wikipedia which is stating that there is going to be a sequel directed by Brad Lewis, Mickey News which, a pretty conclusive site with all Disney related news on, also states that Disney have plans to do this with the story which sees 'Lightning McQueen and his best friend Mater bid to take on the world's fastest cars' Read it for yourself at: www.mickeynews.com/News/DisplayPressRelease.asp_Q_id_E_4108Animated If they do with Cars 2 what they did with Toy Story then it'll be fine. I mean I love Cars anyway and I have a lot of trust in Pixar that if it wasn't a story worth telling, they wouldn't be doing it. Feedback? I am skeptical about this. Cars was a brilliant film I don't think it needs a sequel.

why can't they leave good movies alone?!?!? new ideas people!!!! Since it is Pixar it will probably be worthwhile but, i would rather see something new

While I think this sequel is being driven by merchandise, I still trust Pixar. I don't think they would have consented to this until they felt good about the storyline they had developed and wanted to tell. They did announce quite a few other new films as well. Besides that, Disney could really use a successful franchise for little boys. I mean, let's face it, there aren't very many little boys who dream about meeting some girl at a ball who leaves her shoe behind. On the other hand, some boys dream about fighting the dragon and then awakening the beautiful girl with a kiss  (Hey, wait a minute, I resemble that remark). |

Yeah I know now, I made that post before seeing Pride's thread about the new films being listed.
I need to see a trailer though regarding this film before I can have a true opinion.

I can't have a real opinion until I see a trailer but I hate the idea. I mean the first one is not that old, sheesh! XD All this despite that Pixar is more reliable in the sequel area than Disney. |

well i like cars but it would be interesting to see an sequel and see if there will be any child-like cars. does any one know the sypnopsis? and your first link is broken in first post.

It took me a while to get used to the first Cars. I just didn't get the original Disney joy as I got from the other films. And just as I accept it and willingly watch it now, they make a second. Don't get me wrong, the characters are cute and all, but when will Disney realize that they cannot make a sequel for every movie that turns out okay?

Yeah exactly, I love the first movie, I don't think anything else needs to be done with it, its perfect as is. This is just Disney milking a good thing as they are now pretty famous for doing.

As a note here I wonder what's going to happen to Doc Hudson in the sequel following Paul Newman's passing?
I would hope he'd be written out in memory of him instead of having some secondary actor trying to achieve what Newman did with the character.
Maybe have Obi Wan style flashbacks,thought-backs from Lightning hearing Doc's old sayings?
