I'm with Shenzi. I thought Edward was shallow and irritating. Sure he was brave by the end, but throughout the film I thought he was snobby and vain. I'm glad Giselle decided to stay with Robert. I think characters like him are far easier to root for. I hope Prince Naveen represents a personality that is more similar to Robert's or Aladdin's. I'd rather see a gentleman with vulnerability and still be ready to take action for the woman he loves. Yeah, I found Edward to be empty and pig headed because he basically grabbed the first woman he saw and kind of claimed her. "We shall be married in the morning" isn't a request or a proposal, it didn't really give her a choice. That whole beginning was very shallow and stupid in my opinion and one of the reasons that I was Team Robert the moment he was introduced to Giselle. I am very sorry I know I am making this sound way meaner than it is because I am not saying Edward was a bad guy, and yes Giselle went along with him and had pretty much the same things on her mind but Giselle is not my point and I didn't know how else to word my viewpoint. Personally I would love to see Disney create a prince who has kind of a traditional gentlemen personality not that Disney guys aren't great guys but most of them seem to have a logical kiddish personality about them and I think it would be a nice switch to have a kind, considerate, respectful of the woman form gentlemen. Or as Silver said a personality like Robert is great, He has to be one of my favorite Disney males, possibly even my favorite period. I hope very much that this new prince is not as shallow and doofy as he very much looks. And even more so hopefully Disney does not allow the fact that he is a white man falling in love with a black girl effect his personality. Because Racist writers might think of such a match up as possessive, and have him seem dominating. So hopefully they are careful as having the princess be black alone gives them a difficult task, having the prince that falls in love with her white just strengthens the challenge. If they allow even the smallest things to even just seem raciest they could lose a lot of fans. But personally I have faith in Disney they have always represented many races in a very lovely and non-judgmental way with Mulan(Chinese), Belle(French), and Jasmine(Arabian) as some examples. And I think this has the potential to be a great film, I think the change of character is refreshing and exciting. Tiana seems like she has the potential to be as beloved as Disney's classic princesses. I have only seen whatever very short trailer was posted earlier in this thread but she seemed adorable, strong and a dreamer just like the princesses most if not all of us grew up with.

Please tell me that that is not a picture of the the prince that she ends up. That the frog is her prince and that they haven't revealed his true form because its so big it has to be under wraps. Please, please tell that that isn't her Prince. I know we're not supposed to judge a book by a cover, but generally speaking in animated features, especially in the older hand-drawn animations, you could tell a lot about the character based upon what they look like. And if you have ever seen Happily N'Ever After, he looks like the Prince's brother. Although, he also reminds me a bit of Hercules, and Hercules is an okay guy. I don't know but I don't have any high hopes about him. Earlier in this thread I had stated that I really didn't like her dress, but after looking at the same dress at a different angle, I like it a lot better. Before it just looked different to me. I especially like the other dress that she's in, in the picture with the prince. It has the green, and almost lily-pad look to give it a froggy/swampy feel. I really like it. And now my comments about the song. Its okay. A good introductiony song, but nothing amazing. Was Randy Newman the guy who did "You've Got a Friend in Me" because that's what the song reminded me of.

Funkyk- Is there a a new Teaser Trailer I don't know about? If there is I'd love to know where to view it! (I don't own the Tinkerbell DVD so I have no idea if it's the same one) If it's the same one that has been shown on Youtube then I think it's a bit early to be making judgments on whether the story is worthy of award show season. If it is new one then does this have a more detailed trailer involving how the plot is? If it does, can you describe a little of what the storyline is? Well, Basically this is it: and i was not Quitesure what i was typing with the Whole "Oscar Worthy" type thing.

Sadly I'm too lazy to read though the whole thread. I found out from one of my friends that this movie was going to be shown in 3D? Has anyone else heard of this?

That had better not be true: Bolt, Monster's VS. Aliens and now this, enough with the 3D crap on my opinion. This is supposed to be a traditional animation film I thought? That means NO 3D.

At this point, the "3D experience" notion is probably just a rumor. But even if it does end up as the truth, it won't stop me from marching in the theater opening night! Sorry to break everybody's hearts, but according to Wikopedia and IMDB.com, Prince Naveen is the official love interest for Tiana. But hopefully the characterization is far superior to that of the goofy photo they have of him. Right now his demenor represents something closer to Edward rather then Robert. But maybe Disney will give us a 180 spin, and he'll be charming, deep, and heroic. Funkyk- That's the same trailer I've seen. I have a strong feeling we won't see an official trailer til much later in the year. This is just for a qiuck advertisment, because it's required.

But Robert was boring! He was a stick in the mud. Nice guy, good-looking, great father, but kind of dull.
I hope Prince Naveem is like Edward! Edward was brave and confident and a hopless romantic who, with nary a thought for his own safety, traveled to a strange new world to find Gisselle.

@sliver: I sure hope it's just a rumor. I've never been a fan of 3D for movies or anything. Course even if it's true that won't stop me from going to see it and dragging anyone else I can to go see it.

Edward was brave and confident and a hopless romantic who, with nary a thought for his own safety, traveled to a strange new world to find Gisselle. Yeah but that was kind of the point, for Giselle to open Robert's eyes. He was stiff and boring because his wife left him so he felt like love had betrayed him. Maybe he let it get to him a little too much but he had a sense of reality. After Giselle came into his life she brought out his fun side as we see in the end 'Ever Ever After' sequence. Edward is very naive because he comes from a world that lacks the negatives, and the battlefields of love. I thought he was cute with Nancy, I was glad they didn't end up alone. Maybe the new prince could have a little of both of them.

I don't really see this as the kind of movie that they would present in 3D. I am guessing that that is a rumor.

As far as the 3-D goes, Disney has said nothing about it. They are presenting Up in 3-D in select theaters. If Disney wanted to, they could do this film in 3-D. The Chip and Dale short shown before 3-D presentations of Meet the Robinsons was originally made in 3-D in the 1950s. Disney could do that again if they wanted to. Whether or not they will is another matter.
Randy Newman, the composer of this film, was also the composer for both Toy Story and Toy Story 2, which means he's also responsible for TS2's When Somebody Loved Me. He's more than capable of doing great work for this film.
Speaking as a guy, if Naveen is a boring character then he will simply be the latest in a long line of dull and boring princes, beginning with Prince Charming. Disney has yet to have a prince with some serious substance to him although at least Philllip and Eric got to fight for their respective princesses instead of merely showing up at the end to make her dreams come true.

I realy hope the prince has a larger role in this. The fairytale is based around him so i hope they give him a more in depth personality.
I think it looks funny so far. I can't wait for this movie. I realy love 2D, this should be a classic!

Here's hoping Cassie! ^^ I have some good news for all the people who have been dying to catch a glimpse of a more detailed trailer. This Saturday at 8:30/7:30c during a new episode of Wizards of Waverley Place, Disney will be a show a small preview of the film. (I apologize to those who live outside the U.S, since I'm not sure how those schedules work) If Wizards does take place in that time-slot be sure to check if you can just to see. So if you're just as eager as I am to see any peeks, be sure to either watch or set on your recording device. And be sure to be on the lookout for any new Trailers after this premires. Occasionally, this is when they'll start appearing.
