Funkyk- Is there a a new Teaser Trailer I don't know about? If there is I'd love to know where to view it! (I don't own the Tinkerbell DVD so I have no idea if it's the same one) If it's the same one that has been shown on Youtube then I think it's a bit early to be making judgments on whether the story is worthy of award show season. If it is new one then does this have a more detailed trailer involving how the plot is? If it does, can you describe a little of what the storyline is?

I would imagine it's the same teaser that hit youtube (and was also shown on the Sleeping Beauty DVD).
I know that a lot of people were underwhelmed with the teaser. To be fair, it's just a teaser, but it's not generating the buzz that the company wanted.

It's not generating buzz yet (apart from the conrtoversey) because the story is still being held underwraps. When the official Trailer comes out and more of the story is reveled, I'm fairly certain people will take into consideration if this the film people will want to see this Holiday Season. The Teaser is just an awarness. It's only March too! From what I've heard this film won't be released until December. Besides Disney is focasing on advertising for "Up". The company probably wants to keep the anticipation running. People like myself are itching to see what this film might have in store for us. And it's better to keep the audience on edge.

My concern is that most teasers reveal very little about the plot, but still have people buzzing. My first impression of this film, based solely on the teaser, was one of take it or leave it. The teaser alone did nothing to convince me to see this film. The teaser for WALL-E had me instantly excited to see that film. Apparently, John Lasseter is looking into the marketing department right now because of Bolt's disappointing box office numbers and the underwhelming response they've received for this teaser. Disney cannot afford for this film to have box office results like Enchanted and Bolt. Click me to read about marketing concerns over The Princess and the Frog

And I completely disagree with that. When I saw the trailer for Wall-E I was like "Wow. That looks like its going to suck. Hard." With Princess and the Frog I was nearly jumping out of my seat saying "Ohmigosh! Finally! Disney is back!". It's the most anticipated movie of the year for me. I'm more excited about it than I am for Public Enemies which I've been looking forward to since rumors started cropping up in '07. [/blockquote]

If it is new one then does this have a more detailed trailer involving how the plot is? If it does, can you describe a little of what the storyline is? I agree Funkyk, if the trailer does not show the plot and storyline than you are making that kind of judgment too quickly. Believe me I have made such a mistake with almost all of pixar's first trailers. Ratatouille I can remember the most. I saw the beginning meaningless trailers and thought 'this movie looks weird I don't think it is something I would see.' And I was even worse with 'Meet the Robinsons'. I thought it looked incredibly stupid even from the more detailed trailers actually. I was mad at Disney for this one for making what looked to me like more of a Dreamworks picture. But I ADORE Ratatouille, and Meet the Robinsons was actually fairly cute I even got teary at a certain part. So now I have learned not to start judging until the detailed trailers come out and sorry but to say something like it doesn't deserve an Oscar without knowing anything about what it is, that is quite unfair. That would be kind of like me taking one look at you and saying you are a jerk. You would be like "hey how do you know that!? You don't know me." I don't mean to scold, I mean to inform. You should be patient before you judge. That is what I learning now.

There's some new controversary over the film, this time concerning the prince filmgordon.wordpress.com/2009/03/18/reel-images-the-princess-and-the-frog/First of all, the prince is...kinda doofy looking. Okay, got that off my chest. Aren't interracial romances more progressive than same race romances?Lots of people still think that interracial romances are somehow morally wrong, and that saddens me. It shouldn't be an issue. A person's skin color doesn't matter.

From what I understood, that's not the problem. I think it's that they feel that Disney didn't think a prince could be anything but white. I, myself, think it's just a bunch of racist folks who are trying to make things racist.

The prince seems to resemble a few physical characteristics from Edward in Enchanted. Sure he may not have the instant attractive nature like Aladdin or Prince Phillip, but hopefully he's more then that.
Anyway I can't say I'm surprised about more bashing coming onto to this film. Yes Butters I will agree that it's pathetic if not despicable that many people still believe relationships should only occur if you have the same color skin or whatever. Love is a universal emotion and I think should be welcomed at every corner. I'm definetley not against Tiana have a relationship with a man of different backround. But I can still understand why people are angry about the prince not being African-American. I'm a little dissapointed myself. The article is right in the fact that the majority of leading men in Disney films are of the caucasian race. Besides Aladdin, Shang, Kuzco, and Kenai, I can't think of any other animated leading men from a different backround. And only one is officially declared a "Disney Prince". I agree this could have have been an excellent oppertunity to include another man into this group. But unlike many I can live with it. Who knows, maybe there is a core reason in the story why he isn't from African-American decent.
What's still really ticking me off though is that some people are using their race as an excuse to nit/pick at this film like Joplin said. I'm so sick of hearing all this complaing about "A black person doesn't act like that", "Why does the villian have to be black?" or "What do white people know about the black community?" all that bull! Or then there's the other side making just many racist commets. Well allow me to answer a few in a rational manner since those questions sound pretty racist and hypocritical to me. First of all every induvidual behaves differently. Simply based on the fact that's simply how they are. Not because of of the color of their skin! Second, so what if the villian is an African-American? I don't recall hearing any complaining when all the other villians were caucasian. So why do people have to blow up about it now? Just because a villian is of a certain color doesn't in any way reflect how a whole group of people behave. It's a character for crying out loud! And thirdly, there are a variety of people working on this film who are from many backrounds. People can be so small-minded that they believe only if you're from that group you automatically understand how everybody is. And everybody else from a another group doesn't. People are much more diverse on emotions and behavior then just based on group alone. If people would step outside the box and get to know other people for who they are , maybe there would a lot more peace and understanding. This goes to anybody who discrimnates against a certain group and make the claims similair to what I've stated above. I understand that people want diversity in entertainment. So do I! But if people are going to complain about every little detail claiming their group isn't living upto another "stereotype" in behavior and whatnot. Then they're not helping spread diversity either. And that's just as racist.
Sorry for the rant but I really needed to get that off my chest. Sorry if I was too much.

OMG Butters and Silver are both right, he IS seriously doofy looking, and resembles Edward. And Edward was certainly very doofy, but also had his eyes opened at the end as Giselle and Robert did.

I'm with Shenzi. I thought Edward was shallow and irritating. Sure he was brave by the end, but throughout the film I thought he was snobby and vain. I'm glad Giselle decided to stay with Robert. I think characters like him are far easier to root for.
I hope Prince Naveen represents a personality that is more similar to Robert's or Aladdin's. I'd rather see a gentleman with vulnerability and still be ready to take action for the woman he loves.
