Empire's interview with Don Hahn (long time Disney producer) who confirms Beauty & The Beast 3D, as well as getting The Lion King 3D up and running. He also confirms Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2 & Maleficent, not so positive on The Snow Queen however: www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=28191

BAH! 3D is angering me...it's just a ploy to get more money. As someone in one of my classes this year once said, "I see every day in 3D. Why would I want to pay more money to see it in a movie?"

Gah! I'm all for having these movies re-released into theatres... but as someone with glasses it's hard to get the 3D glasses to sit on top of your own glasses and I end up spending a lot of time adjusting my face and not enough time enjoying the movie.

While I'm not a big fan of 3D, I am a big fan of these films being re-released into cinemas, regardless of format and as I saw a few years ago with The Nightmare Before Christmas which was re-released in 3D, it doesn't subtract from the awe of seeing these masterpieces on the big screen again

The Maleficent Movie news is very disappointing. As for Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King in 3-D, the jury is out for me. It all depends on whether or not the 3-D experience adds something new to the film.
For instance, the Toy Story 1 & 2 3-D release was a positive thing. In that case, the 3-D added a new level of depth to the film and made for a more immersive experience. 3-D can work for hand drawn animation as Disney used it on an old Chip and Dale short released in the 1950s. However, I'll be interested to see what it does for films that were not originally designed for 3-D.

I honestly don't think I will see this in theaters unless someone takes me out there. The good news is that there is going to be a DVD/Blu-ray release. I want my own copy of The Lion King.

I understand where everybody is coming from. I personally would rather just have the Disney executives re-release all the classics and mega-hits in a regualr Cinema again. I also where glasses so it can be aggrivating trying adjust the 3-D ones on top of it. But I'm not nearly as bothered by it as I once was.
That being said I'm going to see this film and Beauty and the Beast on opening night! Many may find it silly I'm willing shuffle out money for movies I already own to see it at the Cinema again. That's exactly why I want to do it though. Being at the Cinema and watching these films as an adult will feel special to me. I want to see my "All-Time- Favorite" film and one the most critically acclaimed Disney films at the top notch standard. I'm not sure how traditional animation will fair with being in the 3-D format. If this is what it takes to see them, I'm giving it a chance.

I used to have a HUGE problem with 3D. I don't mind seeing stuf in 3D now, but the money fact drives me nuts! I don;t know about you guys, but here it is between 12-14 dollars for a 3D movie. Beauty and the Beast is such a becautiful film though, its probly worth it. Althoughm that money could pay for at least half of a copy for me to own

There is nothing like the experience of seeing a movie on the big screen, regardless of whether you own it on DVD and/or have seen it countless times. The cinematic experience is entirely different.
I have watched Sleeping Beauty for over 20 years. I've probably watched it 2-3 times a year since 2003. And yet when I saw it on the big screen for the first time in 20 years, it was like seeing it again for the first time. I was not prepared for how breathtaking it would be on the big screen.
Re-releasing the film is a very good thing. I'm just curious to see what effect the 3-D has on the viewing experience.

I think this is going to be great. Me and a friend constantly quote the entire movie so seeing it again would just be great! I wonder how long it'll be before it's released here in New Zealand, if it will be. I also wear glasses but I don't wear the glasses over my glasses. I just sit near the front and take my glasses off XD I don't see every thing 100% clearly but it's good enough for me.

Why would I want to pay more money to see it in a movie?" *is not a fan* I completely agree with Pride. I'm so sick of every kids film coming out in 3D - especially when they don't even do anything special because it's in 3D. It's only in 3D because it can be and they know people will go and pay money to see them. The part that bugs me the most is that it seems that they might be only be making 3D films in the (not at all close) future. TVs and computers are already in the making for bringing all the 3D experience home so that 3D movies can be enjoyed there too. Sometimes 3D movies can be fun, but sometimes it prevents you from really seeing the movie, and I don't think its worth it. Anyways, are they only rereleasing it in 3D? I want to see Beauty and the Beast for sure in theatres even if it is in 3D, but I would prefer to see it not in 3D. I'm not entirely sure if I'm willing to fork over the cash to see The Lion King in 3D too.

SpellWoven- According to all of the information I could find on the internet. Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King will only be reissued into 3-D format. As for which and how many theatres is still unknown. I think the days of re-releasing classic Disney films in regualr theatres has come and gone. If Disney's hoping to top the Box Office amount they made for the Imax releases. They'd better make it a wide release.

As ever, I'm going to grumble at 3D films and say no thanks. But yay at re-releases, I think it's nice for the.. new generation? (OH GOD I FEEL OLD) to be able to see these AWESOME movies in the cinemas The 3D-ness is totally unnecessary though, in my opinion.
