So I don't know if anyone has seen or heard, but this has been confirmed as returning to cinemas on September 16th for 2 weeks.
This is going to be one of the highlights of the year for me!

I usually avoid 3-D films. (Say I'm behind the times if you want but I have no problem watching a film in regular format) But I have recently decided I will make two exceptions for this. One is this film right here! I missed the re-release of it back in 2002 while it was in Imax. And I was only 5 when this film was initially released I want to be able cherish the moment of watching my "All-Time Favorite" film in the Cinema. Even if it means I have to put on sunglasses to watch it.
The other film is Titanic which will be re-released next year. I didn't see that movie in the theatre at all! Now before anybody critisizes, Iwas only 7 at the time and wasn't partial to either romance or disaster films. I'm 22 now, my taste in movies has changed dramatically. (Hehe)

Sorry to double post. But had to get this off my chest. Saw Car 2 in 3-D (Pixar's worst effort to date. Let's hope it's only one mishap) and as it turns out some theatres are still playing the 4 minute preview of TLK. I must admit, I was very nervous with how Disney would approach this. I was concerned with how they were going to transform at 17 year old Hand-Drawn animated film into a full-fledge 3-D style film. I must say that the conversion they did looks fantastic! The only down side is now I'm itching even more for Spetember to arrive. Yet ironically there is a positive to the release date. The film will begin playing a few days after my Birthday. What a special treat Disney has provided me with. Okay, I'll lay it all out right now. The four minute preview was the Circle of Life opening number. And by the end of the song I had tears in my eyes. (I'm the proudest sap. Hehe) There is still magic at Disney. The last time I shamelessly cried at a Disney film (Not including Pixar) was Brother Bear back in 2003. I must have seen this film a 1000 times but watching it in the Cinema made me overwhelmed with emotion. Goodness knows I'll be bawling come September when the credits start rolling. (If I'm lucky to make it that far)

I am going to see. I am going with my friend who missed the original release of The Lion King in 1994. From what I heard the 3D is pretty good.

It's now in release. Based on the preview I saw for The Lion King at Beauty and the Beast in 3-D, this looks stunning. My guess is that The Lion King in 3-D will be better than Beauty and the Beast in 3-D as far as 3-D experience goes. The highlights of Beauty and the Beast 3-D were the outdoor shots and the ballroom sequence. With The Lion King being almost all outdoors, this should be a real treat.

I think there's something people should know before this thread is closed out. The recent release of The Lion King is not "Only" in 3-D! Check your showtimes at your local theatres. For there are some that are playing it in regualr format. So for those who would like to see this film on the big screen again without having to deal with the 3-D element. It's possible!

Interesting. I definitely want to see it in 3-D because of how the preview made it look. At this point, I hope to do so. I am currently without a car, which makes getting to the movie theater difficult.

Friday box office numbers are in and the re-release of The Lion King roared to first place with 8.8 million. This was more than double what the Toy Story/Toy Story 2 in 3-D double feature did in 2009.
