No this is not the concert that had been tuoring the nation that stared all of the actors except Zac Efron. This actually stars none of the original actors, new script, a different twist to songs, new songs, and best of all done on stage!
I somehow managed to get a free ticket of it (I'm saving up for The Phantom of the Opera) and went and ejoyed it at LaSalle Bank Theatre. I was wondering if anyone else as seen it or is planning to see it? I don't recommend it if you didn't like the movies (obviously) also be warned you might be the only people in the audience that are above seven, not including the parents.
There are four new songs in the Musical one of which is I can't Take my Eyes Off of You which is the bonus track on the soundtrack and a typical theatre finale that puts all the songs together and a short track called Cellular Fusion and a full length song to go along with the locker scene (before There was Me and You), Counting on You.
All the songs have different twists on them and any solo or duet songs are the ones that are changed the most to add the rest of the cast.
They change Ryan's role to reflect some of what appears in HSM 2. They've also added a new character Jack Scott who is the vouice of East High School aka the School announcer which hads a fun twist and narrative to the musical. (Also a cute spice up for Kelsi).
Over all the cast was okay, the best actor coming through as Ryan played by Bobby List and the worst as Troy played by John Jeffrey Martin.
The musical was as cute and enjoyabe as the movie was and just as silly and cheesy if not more so. Also aimed for tweens, which you notice in the audience when the smaller children start to sing or help Sharpay say Congrau "lations" which is really cute.
