I was watching this today and had a thought. How long do jaguars live? (Or is Sabor a leopard? Either way...) Sabor must be over 18 by the time of his final confrontation with Tarzan, and the realization that Sabor was probably past his prime while Tarzan was just entering his...that wasn't exactly a fair fight, was it?

I believe he's a leopard, and they generally only live from 12-17 years. So, it's a miracle that he's even a life (or a curse), so Tarzan did have a leg up on him. Although, Sabor did have his claws and teeth, which are very menacing.

You're right he is a leopard. I checked wikipedia, and it says that Jaguars are native to Central and South America (which is like America, only south)

I think Tarzan's a good movie, but for some reason I've never been all that fond of it. Still, I do love the music by Phil Collins, even though I'm not a really big fan of his other music. I actually own the soundtrack. My favorite scene would have to to be the trashing the camp sequence. I liked how it was very upbeat.

I watched Tarzan the other day. It's a movie that I kind of forget about, but whenever I watch it, I remember how much I enjoy it. I really like Jane. She's smart, but kind of ditzy. It's available to stream on Netflix now, so give it a watch!

Ugh... Wish I had Netflix. When our contract runs out, me and Sam are definitely switching from satellite to a better internet, like DSL. So we can stream! I'm with you, Butters. I forget about this movie and love it each time i watch it. Love Phil Collin's work with this film.

I never really took in much accunt the idea of Sabor's age. Afterall, Disney did re-create their own idea of nature by making hynenas in The Lion King as the bottom of the food chain for predators. In reality they are equal with lions. Just as fierce and arguably more intelligent. Can't really read too much into it as this is not a nature documentry. So you have to play along with the stretch of realisim. I was however more puzzeled that the animators forgot to keep the wound where Sabor slashed Tarzan across his chest. Perhaps it was considered too graophic. But I think if they felt that way they should have just made him dodge every blow that Sabor struck at him. I like this film very much. Just not in my top ten. More like fifteen. Like is my key word. Everything is of good quality. I suppose there wasn't anything I would call outstanding. Although I think it is wonderful Glenn Close wanted to be apart of another Disney film in the exact opposite role from Cruella in the 1996 production of 101 Dalmations. Also have to give props to Phil Collin's collection of songs for the soundtrack. While undertsandably You'll Be in My Heart is the favorite amongst fans. My personal faovrite has always been Two Worlds. An extra shout out to the rest of the colorful cast- Tony Goldwyn, Minnie Driver, Rosie o'Donnell, Brian Blessed, Nigel Hawthorne, Wayne Knight and Lance Henkricksen.

Double post. A happy 16th anniversary to the creative team of Tarzan! K-"Close your eyes. Now forget what you see. What do you feel?" T- My heart." K-"Come here." (Leaning into hear another heartbeat in the same area)T-Your heart?!" K- "See they're exactly the same. Some just can't see that." I treasure this scene because it will always be relevant.

I thought the world wide web had all of the answers. (Eye roll)
I can't tell for certain if the Blu-ray/ DVD release from last summer is still being sold on the shelves
If this has gone back into the Disney vault. Can someone please verify?

I do not have a definitive answer, but I do not think Tarzan is in the vault. Amazon currently sells the blu-ray edition of Disney's Tarzan for under $20. The price appears to be fairly consistent and also roughly $5 below the retail price of title such as Sleeping Beauty and 101 Dalmatians, both of which were given the Diamond Edition treatment. Tarzan is not considered a Diamond Edition release.
But films such as Pinocchio, Beauty and the Beast, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, all of which are currently stated to be in the vault, retail for over $100.
A quick search of my local Best Buy reveals that Disney's Tarzan is still in stock and can be picked up today. Also under $20.
Even if Disney has put the film back in the vault, they're not going to pull previously released stock.
