I guess we're polar oppisites then. All the reasons you've mentioned are the very reasons I have fallen in love with this film. I like the fact that Quasimodo didn't recieve the same avaerage ending that occurs in most Disney films. Very bold but admireable none the less. Going the unconventional route definetley deserves an appluse. Quasi may not have found romance but he did find a profound friendship. He also found awarness, honesty, support and freedom. He also found the ability to look at himself in the mirror and believe he is beautiful in every sense. And I think the chemistry was much stronger for Phebus & Esmerelda. I think it fits better between them as far as romance goes. But unlike most love triangles, these three managed to all stay close and put in the team effort when it was the darkest hour. I think we've had a misunderstanding "It isn't my favorite Disney movie, because I'm not a big Pheobus fan, and it doesn't have the same happy ending most films do. But it has a broader message than "life will always turn out peachy"..." I'm sorry, I wasn't clear at all. It isn't one of my favorite films, because of Pheobus. I failed to explain more reasons why it wasn't my favorite. However, the but meant that this was the stuff that I do like. I guess I was just in a positive mood =p Oh don't worry I was not (Since I was the first to quote you on that post) I was not against you for thinking anyway towards this film. I knew what you were saying I was agreeing. Phoebus is hilarious but I find him to be a little cheesy too, I can't explain why I say this but I don't know I can just sense it in his character. And obviously that is made to make up for whatever darkness there may have been to his character in the novel. (I am sure Kristen told me that he is there, although his name may not have been Phoebus it may have just been a soldier but its the same role).

Ok. I'm too lazy to quote, but to answer Silver, I think I'd have to agree with Shenzi somewhat. I think he's a little cheesy, and I find his character kind of dumb. It's like he isn't really a character, just a piece of furnature that moves around in the plot. He is a soldier in the army that defends Esmeralda, I know, but compared to the strong personalities of both Quasi and Essy, he kind of just fades for me. =/

I agree.. Pheobus is not on my favorites list by any means. I don't think he is attractive, or too heroic. I mean, he is.. but I don't know. I guess I am a little mad that he ends up with Esmerelda in a way. I have always liked Clopin more.. even though he is definitely not a hero. I just like him

...I like Phoebus. ^_^; He's handsome, funny, blonde, older, bearded...okay, so he has a doofy haircut, but I think Phoebus is pretty great.

No Phoebus isn't the most layered character in the film, but he has true intensions. He may not be as appealing as Quasimodo, but he is still gentleman with a good sense of humor. (I can see why Esmerelda was attracted to him)

That is true.. I forgot how willing he was to risk his job and life to do the right thing. That is pretty valiant.

Well to each to their own. Some of the characters I find appealing, may not be to someone else. That's just how it is.

Yah, sure, valliant, whatever. He just gives me the creeps. >.< Hahaha Pride XD I think the voice cast for THoND is phenomenal on the whole. I obvously love Tony Jay *rolls eyes* But I think Tom Hulce is so unbelievably endearing as Quasi. He brings so much depth to the character and so much emotion. He's really great to listen to in this film. And I like Phoebus but I think.....with Kevin Kline's voice....they could have made him so much more. Don't get me wrong he does make me laugh and KK does a fine job as it is. It's just... I dunno....he doesn't seem to me to be a believable and fully rounded character unlike the others.

I love "The hunchback of Notre Dame. It´s one of my favourites since my childhood. I still think Esmeralda should have been with Quasimodo ( ) but okay, I have no problem with Phoebus. I also love the song "God help the outcasts" It´s great. But so are all songs in this movie.

When I was younger I could never figure out why Quasi didn't end up with Esmeralda in the end but when I watch it now I see the connection between her and Phoebus and how he risked his life for her. Phoebus wasn't a character I thought about at all when I was little, I pretty much just passed him over but when I rewatch it now he has a different impression on me. To me he seems like the popular jock. Not the really mean one that takes advantage of his popularity but the good hearted one that all the girls love. He an actually good person but you want to hate him all the same because of it but you can't. Its formula and nothing really special but for me its impossible not to like him. He has the best intensions.
