I also saw this production while it was on a National Tour. The show and the performances were phenomenal. While it's not based on the film through direction and visuals, it keeps the emotional center and comedic relief alive. Being that The Lion King is my favorite film I wanted so badly to see a stage craft interpretation. My "goodness" did Disney do an excellent job. I honestly never thought a project such as this could be accomplished. I have to tip my hat to Julie Taymor, Thomas Schumacher, and the rest of the collaborators for proving me wrong. The show is a visual masterpiece with the brilliant story flowing beautifully. And the music is spectacular- with an African score that's placed along side Elton John's upbeat showtunes and pop ballads. Anyone who's lucky enough to see an form of a professional production is in for a real treat. Even my Mom( who's not a fan of the film) was having a blast! It's now among several of my favorite Broadway shows.
I'm also thrilled that The Little Mermaid wil be making a "SPLASH" on Broadway. I'm looking forword to November. However it saddens me to know Beauty and the Beast will be leaving but it's had a great run. But I'll miss it. I would love to have the oppertunity to see Mary Poppins and Tarzan if they decide to tour. And any other future shows Disney has coming our way.

I saw that show at Animal Kingdom about the Lion King and just from what I saw from that I bet the Lion King would be absolutely amazing, I think its the costumes that truly stand out. I hope you enjoy it when you see it. I have seen Beauty and the Beast in Chicago, which was really good. Tarazan was suppose to be good but when they brought to the US I guess it fell flat, and Mary Poppins is suppose to be different. Then the Little Mermaid is, as silver said, supposed to make a Splash, but even with the rest of those Broadway shows The Lion King has always been known to be the best show from Disney on stage.

I really did enjoy it. It was great. Although, as I've said in another thread somewhere, Zazu and Scar's characters let me down.

I just had the priviledge of seeing this show on tour with my best friend today! It was just as incredible as the last time! I stand by my last review as I think that covers everything I hoped for, and then some. The performances were splendid and the effects were top-notch. The music is gorgeous and the costumes are eye-popping. Although the audience could have had better behavior. But that's a minor set-back. I just wish I could see this production in it's true element in either Broadway or West-End. I hear that's by far the most magical. But this is still excellent! It's a joy to watch!

Oh. My. Goodness. Gracious. I saw this in Salt Lake City a few days before school started. New favorite musical most definitely. Holey moley I don't even know what I can say. It might be because it was during a tender time in my life- I had to leave my friends/family (and Disneyland ;_;), my aunt had just passed away, and I was starting a new chapter in my life. So basically, you all know I don't normally cry and that's how I can tell if something is special. During the opening scene of The Circle of Life when all of the animals walked through the audience (just like in the movie), I had to reaaaaly fight back tears so my mom wouldn't see. From then on I just had to keep breathing deeply. It was very touching. Everything was superb, everything. I only had slight complaints about Scar because he just wasn't Jeremy Irons, but that's to be expected. Mufasa and Simba were stellar! I really felt like they had their characters down with personality, movements, and even the voices were cohesive! The slight changes to the hyenas bothered me at first but by the end I thought they were just supercool. Oh my word. I wish I could see this again. I hiiighly reccommend it, and I've seen some really good musicals. The quality was just out of this world and I felt very connected to it. I downloaded all of the music within a few days and definitely have some new favorites! Oh my gosh, just thinking about it...

Big news! I am going to see The Lion King (American National Tour) in March! I can not describe how thrilled I am to be seeing this show for a thrid time. This will never get old. It's Classic Disney with a stage production twist.

Still have never seen this and would love to someday. We were supposed to go to a touring production my junior year of High School, but for some reason, that never materialized.
