Has anyone seen these cute Christmas movies? If you haven't, they've been airing on ABC family, are currently available on Netflix streaming and were recently rereleased on dvd.
Each film consists of several different segments. The segments in the first film seem unrelated, but a slight running gag seems to tie in some of the segments in the second movie.
I prefer the writing and humor of the second movie, but Twice Upon a Christmas uses cgi and looks very dated despite being just ten years old. I think my favorite segment is Mickey and Minnie's Gift of the Magi (based on the O. Henry story) from the first film. You know how it's going to end, but Mickey and Minnie are so sweet in the end :')
Which is your favorite segment?

Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas is now a staple in terms of my holiday film line up.
I've never felt attached to the Twice Upon a Christmas so I pass on it.
Mickey and Minnie win favorite segment from hands down! What lengths they went to in hopes of displaying their love for one another through gifts. Sadly the twist is not what they anticipated but it revealed why their love is iconic. They mean the world to one another. Another thing people of all ages should admire is their work ethic and composure under pressure/scrutiny. The "horrible bosses" feature may have been played up for comedy but this is true for millions. I deal with this myself. Yet here they are embracing each new day and arms open wide with kindness. They're diamonds in the rough!
The story of Max and Goofy is indeed a homage to Miracle on 34th Street. However what I like was Max's evolution. I won't deny he was a brat. But watching his progression to a selfless young man who has such a wonderful father is one to savor. Max is so caught up in his superficial problems he fails to see what the real issues are. Goofy's failure to prove Santa's existence crushes his spirit in believe he failed his son. But Max needed to see his Dad at his lowest to realize why he needs to put in a lot more effort into the relationship. His father provides blood, sweat and tears each day so Max can live an idyllic life. Max needs to step up to the plate big time. Thankfully he does.
Then of course the story of the triplet ducklings. Huey, Dewey and Louie. Spoiled rotten! Couldn't be more appropriate for them to live the same day over and over considering how deplorable their behavior is. Finally they are awakened to see what sort of heartache they caused to their relatives who also worked tirelessly so they could have a special holiday. Just by pitching in and saying thank you goes a long way. And that is it's own reward
This film maybe 15 years old but all of it's themes are incorporated in a society where Christmas has been shamefully glorified on material items. Now we dial it back to demonstrate at what cost are we striving for this stuff. Which is quite frankly the root for greed. Tragically many may not even recognize how hurtful they are. But they want to turn the tables around once they do witness their negative behavioral pattern. Or maybe how it's possible to love too much.
This is why this film remains so precious to me personally.
