How crazy do you go with decorations? Do you give out candy? What are the trends in your neighbourhood when it comes to Halloween?

My mom decorates the house, but she likes doing that sort of thing. With the way my house is located, no one is really able to stop here to trick-or-treat (we're on a major highway). I do, however, go looking for a bag of candy corn and dress up for work if it's allowed.

I live in the country... So no candy giving for me. We don't really decorate either. Now I'm all about hitting up haunted houses. Horror movie marathons galore. Sam, my parents, and I plan on double dating to a Zombie Shoot Out... You ride on a hayride and shoot paintballs at zombies. Looks like fun!

Halloween wasn't much fun back home. I lived in a part of town that was mostly summer resort homes, so we didn't get many trick or treaters. We always went all out decorating, because it was fun.
Last year, though, in our new home, was SO much fun. We had tons of trick or treaters. We had more trick or treaters in that one night than we'd had in the last twenty years combined. For whatever reason, the city wants trick or treating on November first, so idk what we'll do on Halloween :/

That's crazy! You can't trick or treat on November 1st! Unconstitutional! Lol

I know. I could understand if Halloween fell on a school night, but the 31st is a Friday? Weird.

Shoot... Everywhere I've lived - school night or not - Trick or Treating was on the 31st. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Yeah, that's how it was in my hometown (except for 2012...trick or treating was postponed several days because of Hurricane Sandy). But a nearby town always has a big Halloween parade, so trick or treating in that town isn't on Halloween. It's weird :/

It's weird where I live. A lot of the towns and cities will do it on the 31st, but a lot of them will also do it either the weekend before or the weekend after.

I like to decorate for Halloween. I mostly just decorate the inside. I have cute pictures I put up and a few Disney themed decorations. I usually put out a Harvest wreathe on the door and will decorate the windows with decals but we don't get enough kids to go nuts. We always buy candy and end up eating it ourselves

I love to decorate each year and we get a lot of children as well. I love to give out candy and check out all of the cute costumes. I'm lucky to live in an area where there are still a lot of out door trick or treaters. Some of the malls in my town have trick or treating in the mall now.

Well I'm kind of a new neighborhood for me this year. We just moved into this house and although it was my grandparents house I haven't been around the area for Halloween in years. So I have no idea what the trick or treat traffic is like anymore. Sadly however the Halloween spirit has died down a lot since my childhood. A lot of the houses that used to go all out around here don't anymore and there are fewer kids.
This year I hope will be fun, I'm hoping we're doing a Halloween party here. My friends are coming over and possibly my step sister and her boyfriend/baby daddy.
I don't know if we'll decorate but I hope so, this is my first house so I've never gotten to decorate for holidays before, outside especially.
