This breaks my heart. I had to double check to ensure it was real. The man was a pure genius. Prayers for his family!

Yeah, when my sister told me, I thought it was a hoax.

Indeed I'm on the same page. Upon returning from walking my dog I'd been instantly greeted by the news of his death all over my Twitter and Facebook accounts. When I'd read a headline on Facebook saying that it was an apparent suicide my automatic reaction was to call it BS, to accuse the media of just trying to get publicity off of the death of a legend. 'Anything for a story' was my specific phrasing when I'd tweeted this reaction. Then I read one of the articles which had appeared on my Facebook feed. It didn't say much because it was still under investigation but one of the first lines, the one which had caught my attention and drew me to the article was that he'd recently been suffering from severe depression. Not any easy thing to detect in or believe about a man so well known for his high energy and silliness but considering how many celebrities under the age of 80 die of unnatural or preventable causes it shouldn't be quite as surprising as it is.
Tuesday it was supposedly confirmed that Robin Williams had committed suicide by hanging. Depression is a medical condition which is completely treatable so we can only hope that if at all possible those around him had attempted to the best of their abilities to help him.
He will live on forever in our hearts.

When my mom told me after work the other day I just looked at her like she was crazy, but after reading up about it online via news sites and tumblr posts I realized it was true. Overall I’m still kind of numb about it. I loved almost all of his movies that I had seen and I was really getting excited about the thought of a Mrs. Doubtfire 2 especially since I had just read up about it the other day. But I was mostly surprised to learn that he was suffering from a depression and ended up killing himself, I mean to me he always seemed so happy and optimistic. We’re still reading news articles about what people are trying to do to remember him. I saw something about the Aladdin Broadway, as well as a dimming on the lights there. I also read that they’re planning on putting an NPC in World of Warcraft for him since he enjoyed it. I also saw images of where people are leaving flowers for him at the house where Mrs. Doubtfire was filmed. I know I’ll definitely miss seeing him on the big screen. : ( I just hope his family doesn’t take it too hard.

Revised my first post, so please look that over again.
As for Mrs. Doubtfire 2, I admit it had me interested but a sequel made over ten years after the original and in an era where so few decent sequels exist is very risky.

I was absolutely shocked when my husband first showed me a news article on his passing. He is one of my favourite male actors. Some of my favourite movies include Hook and The Birdcage. He was a very talented actor. It was refreshing to see him in more serious roles as well. One of my favourite dynamic rolls of his is One Hour Photo. He's a total creeper. It's too bad we won't get to see what other things he could have done with his life.
