Usually I do not discuss social issues as they tend to spur arguments. But I thought this was interesting. On the night that all the different couples got married live on the Grammy's a few nights ago, Disney premiered its first same sex, openly gay couple on their hit TV show Good Luck Charlie. Charlie's parents had scheduled a play date for their daughter and her friend in Preschool. When the parents arrived, it was a beautiful lesbian couple. Disney stated that they had began planning this episode over a year ago. They wanted to be relevant to all sorts of families and wanted kids to relate. How do you all feel about this? What did you think of it? Now this is not a discussion thread to start any sort of arguments or negatively. Please keep all negative comments to yourselves.

I haven't watched the show, but I think it's a big step in the right direction. Families come in so many shapes and I think it's important to show that.

I thought it was about time! This has been a part of society for years. It's about time they face it!

I love this idea! I wish more shows would step up like this. As Butter's stated. Family life is no longer the same. All families are different and it's time to celebrate that fact and not hide it.

Mmhmmmm! I was put in a foster family. So I was thrust from one family to another. There are so many different family lives to explore and I think that Disney's finally taking a step in that direction!

Extremely well done, Disney. It's about time they finally saw that this is the direction to go in. I'm sure they had been considering it long before they were planning this, but I'm glad this has been done. You are all right, families come in various ways, and I'm so glad they're representing that.

They were actually talking about this episode for over a year. So yea... it was long planned. Just real ironic that it aired the same night that all the diverse couples wed on the Grammys.
