Okay! I am just hearing about this wonderful spinoff of Boy Meets World!!! Disney has added 8 episodes, making a full season of the show! Cory and Tapanga (yes, Ben and Danielle are reprising their roles) are back, but this time their daughter takes the lead! This no doubt will excite fans both young and old! I know I watched this as a child and so I will love to see how they go with this!! The release date hasn't been announced yet, only that it will be out sometime this year. Any takes on this new show? I have mixed feelings. I loved the original, but I'm also afraid this new show might not live up to the original.

I really like the fact that they are bringing back two of the original characters. That gives me hope. ^^;

I love how they are still including most of the other characters as well (there have been stills with cory's parents, Sean, Eric and it's known even Mr. Feeny is going to be back!). So far, it feels like a nice extension on the original so i'm going to stay optimistic and hope that they're keeping the same tone that the original had.

I'm really worried that it's going to turn into a "That's so Raven"/"Hannah Montana" feeling show and not feel like the original. Agreed wholeheartedly; considering the quality of today's Disney series I am quite concerned of exactly this and feel the chances are pretty high. It seems the more tasteful humor of the original and it's fellow classics has died with them and I very much am against the Matthews daughter being the type of selfish, shallow and ridiculous character we see on the Disney channel today. (Though I actually didn't mind 'That's So Raven', it even had some good messages sometimes just like the classics used to even she is a type of character I don't desire seeing seeing in this case, being mixed with a classic). In any case spin offs must be handled very delicately and with this series all the more so since many years have passed since the original. And did I misread you Arielle? How is 8 episodes a full season in America? I only know British TV series to do that.

I'm guessing by the phrasing "added eight episodes" that it means that an additional eight episodes were added onto the original order, bringing it up to a full season

Oh, so there were already completed episodes before the eight that were mentioned here?

Thanks Butters.
And that's what it would imply. I assume they shot a few episodes to see how it would go, got some good ratings on the "test runs", and Disney ordered a full season.

So I'm watching Tarzan on the Disney Channel and caught a trailer for this series and unfortunately it appears to be what I fear, one of those modern Disney ridiculous comedies. I got a vibe from it like 'Suite Life' or 'That's So Raven' but trailers can be deceiving and I do hope I am wrong. Here check it out: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyNf-wCwqNY

I am both pumped and scared for this show. Major mixed feelings! The clips I've seen so far seem to have that very "new Disney Channel show" feel to them and that really upsets me. I was a fan of That's So Raven, Suite Life, the first bit of Hannah Montana, and some of those other shows that weren't necessarily classics, but were what I grew up with. BUT. Boy Meets World was /never/ like any of those shows. BMW was it's own category of awesome and I never saw it as a Disney Channel show, it just happened to air there.
Which is why it scares me that GMW will be like the new disney. Not because That's So Raven and the like were bad. Because BMW was never like that. And it's spin-off should have the same vibe as the original, in my opinion. That's mostly what scares me. But I'm pumped as heck for this show and will watch it, no matter how bad it is, because CORY AND TOPANGA. These two were my childhood and made my expectations for relationships far too high XD OTP before I knew what that even was. I adore them and seeing them again will just be so great I don't even care how awful their daughter is. I will watch it just to see those two again.

PEGGY! Agreed. As it happens I was a fan of 'That's So Raven', it even had some of that classic 'Lizzy McGuire' feel to it and actually had some positive messages in some episodes. But as you said BMW is from a generation of more tasteful humor and well written, relatable characters. So it concerns me to see it being brought into this world of Disney where I fear it does not belong.
