I'm not sure if this would go here, but it was just confirmed that Frozen is in the works to hit Broadway! What are your thoughts? Considering the entire cast are musical theatre veterans, do you think they'll bring back everyone to reprise their roles? Any new songs you think the story needs? Or do you think this is just a bad idea overall? Personally, I'm really interested in how they're going to bring this to the stage. I'm guessing they'll be using puppetry for Sven and Olaf (similarly to how they went about portraying Sebastian in the TLM stage production and the entirety of the Lion King costumes), which should be interesting. I really missed a villain song in this movie, so maybe they'll bring in a Love is an Open Door Reprise for Hans. Hopefully a song for Kristoff will be written as well.

Given the success of the film, this doesn't surprise me. But as someone who liked the movie, but felt underwhelmed by the music, I can't say that I have a lot of interest in seeing a Broadway adaptation.

I wonder if they'll include Life's Too Short because I thought it was a good song. People argued that it didn't fit the tone of the movie, but I think it would be good for the Broadway adaptation

I have no issue if they adapt this. What I do take issue with is Aladdin and The Hunchbakc of Notre Dame have been struggeling for years to come to Broadway. They finally had it together. I do not want them to be put on hold again. Especially when Frozen hasn't eveb left the Cinema yet! Come on. At least give it three years while other shows make their mark on stage.

I think Aladdin is pretty much confirmed that it's coming this year - FINALLY.
I think Frozen would translate well. I'd be interested to see how they'd portray Elsa's powers however. Also, I'm interested to see whether interest for this would still hold up in the couple of years it would take to get it off the ground. I just feel it's potentially too soon to make an investment in this.

I never see the broadway versions, but if I lived in a place that had them I would. So I think I'm excited about this news - mostly just curious to see which songs they use and toss in.

I think Aladdin is pretty much confirmed that it's coming this year - FINALLY. Yup, Aladdin's starting their previews within the month and it was finally announced that Hunchback's previews will be take place at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego( x) from October to December of this year, so it's likely adapting Frozen to the stage won't affect either show.

That's a huge relief for me! ^^^ My opinion on Disney taking Frozen slow for a stage adapation has not changed. Let it enjoy it's time as a film. They say it's not about speed. If that were true then they wouldn't even be discussing this. If they want a successful show. Then time is what needs to be taken into consideration. Rushing it in hopes staying with the current media hype will not be in it's favor. Any adaptation needs to be thought out. A different medium requires expansion and even editing from it's orginal source to better serve the story.

If Disney thinks that Frozen on Broadway will be a smash hit because it was a box office smash, I submit 2 recent Broadway musicals based off wildly popular characters who have also seen tremendous box office success.
Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark and The Little Mermaid.
Can Frozen on Broadway succeed? Absolutely. Will it succeed? Time will tell.

Man, I don't remember ever even seeing a single commercial for Spiderman. I remember hearing a lot about it when it was still in production (or whatever the correct term is...rehearsals?) but it kind of fizzled out.
