Well, now that it is in theatres, it is time for it to have its own thread!
I have yet to see this, yet. But my wonderful fiancé says he will take me when we get time. I so cannot wait!
What has everyone thought of this movie thus far? Worth the view?

I enjoyed it. Brought back some memories, especially seeing Mike Wazowski at college on the first day. All in all, it was a fun movie.
However, I was very underwhelmed by the short before.

I'm probably going to skip this one at the Cinema. Based on reviews I've read from both various critics and audience members. Tis seems like renatl material. I will give it this. There's been a lot on compliements on how the production value is far greater then where it was with Cars 2. For me personally. based on what I read. It's not enought to get me to spend money at the theatre.
Despite getting mixed reviews. It was a mega-hit at the Box Office! So far it's earned $82 million domestically. Now the question is what will it's final number be?

I, too, have heard mixed reviews. I guess it is just up to the viewer as to whether or not it is liked. Anything beats Cars 2. LOL
As far as Box Office goes... It was a super hyped up children's movie. 99.9% of the parents that live in my town took their children to see it on opening week. I saw that one coming.

It was cute. I enjoyed seeing little Mike Wazowski as well as seeing how he and Sully met. However, it was total rental material to me when it came to the plotline. : /
I did really enjoy watching the set up for the friendship; showing us how Randal's beef with the guys formed(since he clearly didn't like Sully in the first movie) and even how Mike and Sully started Monsters Inc.

That's really good... I am now excited to see the development of the friendship and the feud. And I will probably end up renting it... my fiancé just isn't too keen on watching it with me.

It has a few laughs and some of the newer characters that are introduced are cute so even if he doesn't want to watch it I'm sure your fiancé will find something to like in it.

Is it no longer in theaters where you're at? It still is but I just never seem to find enough time or energy to go.

I saw it today and really enjoyed it, I thought there were a lot of laughs, it was a lot of fun, and the new characters were all worthy additions. It harkens back completely to the brilliant 80's films like Revenge of the Nerd's and Animal House, as a lot of critics have noted, which I really enjoyed, but it was missing the usual Pixar heart. The third act twist took me completely by surprise, but I think because we know that Mike & Sulley are friends in the end already, it reduced the risk and took away from the tension.
It was nice to hear a lot of Pixar stalwarts returning to do voices though, along with John Goodman, Billy Crystal and Steve Buscemi, it was great to hear John Ratzenberg (obviously), Bonnie Hunt and Dave Foley AKA Flik! Gave me a flutter of hope of something A Bug's Life related but I doubt that very much haha.
And somebody commented on the short, I thought it was brilliant, and the live action took me completely by surprise! It did remind me a little too much of Paperman, with the urbane setting but I thought it was very cute and beautifully animated!
All in all, I'd give Monsters University 6.5/10

While I really enjoyed Monsters University, it did suffer from the prequel challenge of telling an exciting story when you essentially already know that certain things will happen. I really like how they told the story, but some of the dramatic tension was missing because we already know that certain things aren't as dangerous as the characters think they are since we've seen Monsters Inc.
