disney.go.com/frankenweenie/Sorry if this is a repeat, but has anyone seen this yet? It came out a few months ago, but I didn't see it. I haven't heard much about it, actually.

I have seen Frankenweenie. I loved it! My favourite animated film of the year. Anything you wish to know about this film, I am your go-to girl.

I liked it quite a bit. Definitely a Tim Burton film, which some people either love or hate. I also loved the reference to classic Japanese movie monster Gamera who showed up on many episodes of an old favorite TV show of mine Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Sorry for the double post. I say this with due respect to the fans of Brave and Wreck-It-Ralph. I'm still pretty sady Tim Burton didn't take home the Oscar for Best Animated Film. I liked the other nominees but this was the one that squeezed my heart. Oh well, it's better to get nominated and recognized.

I watched this last night, and since we got a dog around 8 months ago, I'm able to identify with this film even closer than I might normally have had.
I absolutely loved it, the voice cast, the animation is stunning (I absolutely love stop motion) and the story is so lovely. Far superior to Burton's last stop motion Corpse Bride as well!

I still have yet to see this movie. I have to admit it didn't appeal to me at first but the more I hear about it the more I want to give it a try.

So I purchased this the other day and adored it! I am thrilled that Tim Burton did another stop motion film, and it completley met my expectations. Far better than his last, Corpse Bride. It had a great voice cast, lovely story, and fantastic looking characters. Did anyone else notice the similarities between Mayor and the large broke man in Corpse Bride? They look so much alike! I was actually quite sad there were no musical numbers in this. But still a great movie!

Arielle- I disagree. I didn't think the movie needed any musical numbers. I love musicals but not all films need songs to carry a film through emotionally. I was taken by the animation and the voice cast. I personally call it the "Most Under-Rated" film of 2012!

Oh by far! Everyone I knew downplayed it terribly, which is why it took me so long to watch it! But if I remember correctly, Corpse Bride didn't have rave reviews either...
Maybe society as a whole just has a thing against Tim Burton!

I don't think society has a thing against Tim Burton as much as his style is very unique and not necessarily mainstream. Some people really love his style and others don't care for it. I think Burton's a very talented director and fascinating storyteller, but I have to be in a particular kind of mood to watch his films.

I say this with all due respect to the creative teams and the fans of Brave and Wreck-It-Ralph. Ican not dny my happiness none the less. Frankenweeinewon the Saturn award recently for Best Animated Film and Best Score. The truth is I was rooting for this film all through out the award season at the beginning of the year. This film left most entertained and pulled more emotion then the other to films. So I'm glad this film taking home at least one award. I truly believe it deserves it. Congrats to Tim Burton and the whole creative team!

Sarah- I hope you enjoy it. I hope I'm not pushing my enthusiasim too much. I won't say this is the greatest film ever made. No should I say people are guarennteed to love it more then Brave or Wreck-It Ralph. I just think it's worth a shot. Especially if you enjoy films like Homeward Bound: The Incredible Jorney or Old Yeller. The theme of a bond between an owner and their dog has been brought back with a passion that I have not seen in awhile.
Looks like all of films by Disney and Pixar from last year were able to take home at least one award for Best Animated film. While this took the Saturn (It's like Oscars for Blockbusters) Brave has the Academy Award and Wreck-It-Ralph won the Critics Choice Award.

Each of the 3 films that won an award last year had its own strength that touched audiences. It's nice to see each get recognized since you can make a compelling argument for each of the 3 as best animated film of 2012.
