I've only heard a few opinions of this movie so far and it seems to be good, but I don't really feel motivated to see it while it's in theaters. I was pleasantly surprised with the first movie but this one just doesn't seem appealing to me. I was hoping to hear what you guys think about it if you've seen it

I saw it. It was a pretty good film. It had some really funny parts. There were a couple of references to other films.

I thought it was just a really fun film. Lots of action and humor. Mater is the main character this time around and it's similar to the film "The Man Who Knew Too Little" about an American who gets unwittingly involved in a murder case (I think since it's been years since I saw the movie).
And the Toy Story 3 Hawaiian Holiday short is worth the price of admission by itself.

I didn't know there was a Toy Story short. Ugh. That's not fair. I have no interest in seeing Cars 2, but I'd like to see that short ;_;

Well I saw it opening weekend. I thought it was a pretty good movie. I think the reason why it got as much hate as it did is because people had their standards too high and were expecting WALL-E quality material.

I love Cars 2, if not more so than the first Cars movie...Finn McMissile voiced by the awesome Michael Caine totally steals the show in it for me!

I'm not a big fan. I didn't dislike it, I just wouldn't go out and buy it on DVD. The first movie was so great that I expected the sequel to not live up to it. I did really like that Mater played more of a role in this though.

Well, I'm watching this now, but it's almost over, so I'll post my opinion. It was a little better than the first movie, if only because it had a few likeable characters (the two British spy cars) and the plot was more interesting than the first movie.
I really didn't get the romance between Mater and the girl spy though. It seemed forced and I thought they were better as friends.

I just saw this last night despite that I had zero interest in it due to getting the vibe from it that the spy theme was a gimmick that would not be believable, but it actually turned out to have a surprisingly well written and enjoyable plot. I'd worried that Mater would bring mostly a lot of stupid comedy to a film revolving mostly around him but the ended up using his character in an in depth and emotional way which was engaging despite that the whole "not being taken seriously or being different and needing to prove oneself" thing is cliche. I'll agree that I was not feeling the romance between Mater and the Female spy. Perhaps it was the fact that it was somewhat pushed by Mater's confusion which gave it a vague similarity to the Hunger Games relationship or the fact that the RS townsfolk didn't believe he had a date but something about it did feel a little forced as Butterscotch said. For the record I didn't buy the Hunger Games relationship either due to how it was literally forced, even when reading the books. Point being that when you spark a relationship with such a factor you can't sell me on it even if you give it genuine growth. The concept with the alternative fuel was both well written and plausible though (Spoiler Alert coming!) I admit that at least for a quarter of the film I had this nagging feeling in the back of my mind that Axelrod was the bad guy. Don't know where it was coming from or even how it made sense before it was revealed and explained but it was just there. This is a sign that it wasn't unpredictable enough though it still would have come across well if it had been further explained why he wanted to give alternative fuel a bad name. Maybe it's just me personally but I was not understanding his motive completely.

He wanted to give alternative fuel a bad name because he had discovered a very large untapped oil field (I think he found it during his trek around the world?) so if cars turned their backs on alternative fuel and stuck with regular gasoline, he stood to profit from it.

I liked the first "Cars" a lot, so I didn't mind a sequel. "Cars 2" was a fun and enjoyable ride and I didn't thought it deserved so much flack that it got. I saw previews of it and I didn't thought it looked appealing, yet I finally saw it and enjoyed it a lot. I'll admit that is less sophisticated and more kid-oriented than Pixar's previous works, but it's still a good film.

HA! I'm watching this film now on ABCFamily and picked up on something I didn't the first time I watched it. When they arrive in Paris, France and the camera is shifting between random sights of the city to set the scene, you can see that they did a play off of the restaurant in Ratatouille, 'Goustou's'. There is a moment where you see a 'Gastow's' Resturant. Clever! He wanted to give alternative fuel a bad name because he had discovered a very large untapped oil field (I think he found it during his trek around the world?) so if cars turned their backs on alternative fuel and stuck with regular gasoline, he stood to profit from it. Sent from my GT-P3113 using proboards Ah thank you for explaining that, that's a very sensible and intelligent plot point.
