Disney may not be breaking any boudries or going revelutionary in terms of animation for this. However through this image I can read a great deal of emotion and heart. And that's what matters most as far as I'm concerned. For the screen-play, direction, animation, and acting to combine into one unit to create a film that will take all the ingredients and mesh together beautrifully. I'm very hopeful that's exactly what the creators will do. (Fingers will remain tightly crossed)

To be honest, I still have no opinion on this film. The images they've released to this point may look fine, but I can list numerous recent Disney releases that were visually beautiful to watch, but were void of a story that made me care about the characters. I'm hopeful that they do this film right because the future of hand drawn animation may hinge on it, but until I've seen the finished version, I remain neutral.

*dies*
wow I heard of this movie a few months ago and freaked out. Turns out that maybe they'll make it like the old classic ones, animation wise and plot line (songs and all)
I also love it that the princess is black, I think it's nice and beautiful and about time as well.
So I will just keep checking as how it will turn out, can't wait to hear more just so at least I can give a good valid and solid opinion about it.

Yeah I get a kick out of the fact the the princess shares my kid cousin's totally uncommon name, but its not possible for anyone to have an opinion yet as there have not been commercials yet. Excuse me, has it just been too long since I have been to this thread or can someone tell me when this film is due for release?

IMDb told me December 25 - 2009. Is the name Tiana or is it Maddie for the Princess? I thought it was Maddie but IMDb says Princess Tiana for its credits.

I think that the name was Maddie, and has since been changed to Tiana. I don't remember for sure when the release is.

^ If you're referring to the leading chracter's name it's because core groups believed the Company was being racist and belitteling their reputation. According to reports I have read Maddie was common name used for African American women who were chamber maids back in the early 20th century. Many groups reacted angerily towards the decision to use this name for our newest princess. They thought she should have a name more fitting of royalty and location. And Disney is making an effort to avoid being considered racist at all cost!

Wow I never knew that, but I am glad. It makes me think of the girl on Zack and Cody and she kind of annoys me sometimes.

It looks as though things are not going to cool down anytime soon. Having just read another article in my local paper about racist implications on this film means the company is in for a hurricane of difficulties. Disney of course wants to create justice for it's characters and setting, but the film itself has to appeal to almost all groups in terms of entertainment. Their continued struggle suggests that no matter how many times they revamp and repolish it's structure, there's a possabilty of an ugly outcome either way. If people already refuse to have faith in the creative team, how are they expected to to be given any chance when the film premires next year. But what I find the most mindbending is people were asking for this film for the longest time, but now that it's finally being put together, so many people are already shredding it to pieces and tossing it in the garbage. (It's true afterall, you can't please everyone) Yet now I'm wondering can you please anyone?
