Why doesn't Disney make a theme park based on George Lucas' Star Wars franchise? This could be an answer to Universal Studio's Harry Potter World. Idea brought on by the discovery I made here.

That's interresting...but all I can really say is that Disney World's kingdoms have never been based on one sole film or series. Like, there is no "The Lion King park" even though that movie has three films, same as Cinderella. Also, although Disney has some rights to Star Wars (and I know nothing about the legalities behind these things so don't expect much out of me ), it wasn't an original Disney idea. Honestly, if Disney decided to expand more of the Star Wars idea than just Star Tours at Disneyland, I would probably be pretty upset.

I love Star Wars, but I don't think a Star Wars park would work for Disney. The biggest hurdle would be getting ideas that both Disney and Lucasfilm sign off on and want to build. I also question whether or not there are enough Star Wars fans to make such a park profitable.
As well done as Harry Potter Land appears to be in Universal Orlando, I'm not sure if it will convince people to actually plan vacations to Universal.
