Officially stated as Pixar's first Live-Action film. John Carter of Mars is based on the Edgar Rice Burroughs 11 Volume series called "Barsoom". It tells the story of the title character who is an American Civil War veteran who is seeking protection in a cave from his enemies. When he wakes up from his slumber to find himself on Mars where another civil war has errupted amongst it's inhabitants due to loss of habitat and atmosphere conditions.
Andrew Stanton is the director and co-writer of the adapted screen-play. According to Wikipedia.com the film has a slot in either late 2011 or early 2012. It has been confirmed it will be a PG-13 rating.
So what do you guys think of this?

Hmm I'm not too sure this appeals to me just yet. The story sounds kind of interesting but I think it would have more appeal to an American audience instead of an international audience which so many of Pixar's films have accomplished.

A live-action Pixar film that's rated PG-13? Hmm.....As long as they continue to do what made WALL-E and UP so great, then count me in!

Sarah- How do you mean? Why would this film be more appealing to an American audience as opposed to a worldwide one? Based on the track record and the general skill of director/writer Andrew Stanton, he has a wonderful ability to bring in a universal message. From what I've seen, he's diligent in creating surroundings, characters and scripts that are sympathetic and realistic. I don't see how depite this film being Live Action or PG-13 he would downgrade any of these significant qualities audiences appriciate from Pixar.

I'm not really big on the whole computer animation thing, and the only two Pixar films that I really like are A Bug's Life and Monster's Inc. but I'm interested in seeing what Pixar could do with a live action film.

I probably won't see this. I am more into animated family films than PG-13 live action movies.

Now currently called "John Carter" Disney & Pixar are gearing up for their first Live Action film. (Rated PG-13 for Intense Violence and Action) Unlike that of Disney's Prince of Persia:Sands of Time. I personally find this film much more appealing as has the surface package of a big epic action film while substance lingers right behind it. Based on the trailer I believe Andrew Stanton has in fact kept faithful to his values as both a storyteller and film-maker. A story with a characters the audience comes to care for because he provides universal themes. He merley takes them to a setting of fantasy so the audience can be engulfed in something unfamilar for a few hours. But the conflicts remain every bit as real and famailarly painful in our every day lives. I'm looking forward to March 9th.

So I saw this a few months ago as my boyfriend wanted to see it (I didn't particularly care to see it at all) but I actually quite enjoyed it! I thought the ending was really awesome and well done~ The costumes were the thing that really got me interested - the wedding-y dress thing the woman (really can't remember, it was ages ago xD) wore was gorgeous~~~
