I'm afraid this is not a rumor, but now confirmed. Disney Greenlights Enchanted 2As much as I loved the first film, I don't think this is a good idea. I'm concerned that they'll undo so much of what made the first film so funny.

*sob* For reals? The first one is kinda sorta a parody. How do you make a sequel to a parody? Maybe it's a parody for sequels? I highly doubt it, looking it at the credentials of the people working on the second one. It seems they're going all out of chick flick.

I personally am looking forward to an Enchanted 2, but I'll definitely be sitting back watching which direction this is going to take, before making any concrete opinions.

I'm sort of interested in seeing what would happen in the next film. Perhaps they can take a closer look at the lives of the two characters who chose to go back to the cartoon world. (brain fart)

According to the article I read, Disney is trying to get the same cast back. ^^
I personally don't believe this is a good idea. As others have mentioned, the first film was a light-hearted parody of all the classic films. A sequel to it sounds cheap. I think Disney could spend more time looking to create original material. They need to stop coasting on their other finacial successes and start getting their heads together.

I won't say it this can't work at all. However I don't see this material making a positive leap from one story to another. I personally think with the text it was wriiten in, the conclusion was to stay where it's at. Anything else written for it I can only forsee as a fanfiction-oriented base. The foundation of the original piece was written directly as a parody for a modern twist. The point was to explore and mix the classic literature of Disney and blend it with modern ethics and values for love. The characters behaved and then maybe changed for a reason that would fit the conclusion of the story. I'm sure we could check up on the couples and see what's been happening in their lives. But I don't think it's necessary. The audience's imagination is enough to fulfill what could happen.
Besides I'm wondering how Disney will persuade the original cast to come back since their careers have taken off. Amy Adams is filming a film called The Fighter. Patrick Dempsey is filming both the TV show Grey's Anatomy and a film called Barley Legal. James Marsden is filming a film called Straw Dogs and then he'll start on the sequel to the musical film Hairspray. Idina Menzel is set to have a full-time job on the TV show Glee and workshopping on a few new musicals. The cast is very busy to say the least. So even if they did agree to come back, how lo ng does Disney plan to wait for them?

I agree with Silver. My main concern is that what made the first film so great will be undone. I felt the main point was that in the real world, happily ever after can still happen, but it takes a lot of hard work and working through challenges (see Mr. and Mrs. Banks). The humor worked because it was a loving and satirical treatment of the Disney standards. Just doing more of the same won't make Enchanted 2 something "new."

I don't like the sound of this. I never really liked the first movie anyway. I won't be going out of my way to see it. Then again, if the previews of it are good, my mind may change I don't know why, but I usually base my wanting to see movies upon their previews XD

I definatly need to wait and see more about the plot before I can make a judgment. I loved Enchanted though, so I might turn out alright if they get the actors back.

I really hate to say this, because I thought the first Enchanted was a really good film, but I don't think this sequel is going to work. I saw a plot idea for the movie somewhere on the internet and it sounded kind of stupid. I can't remember what it was all about, and I think it was just a rumor, but it didn't sound good at all.
