Anybody heard of this film? I saw the Teaser Trailer awhile back and read the basic summery. It's the story of a a young man who has an expertise in technolgy. He looks into his father's disappearence and discoves a shocking truth. Somebody has created another dimension where a simple video-game has become an actual cyber-society. Now he must find his father and escape the dangers of it's disturbing characters from the hands of psychopathic creator.
I think this film sounds fascinating. Very different material then what Disney has worked on. I'm hoping the plot will be just as dark and adventurous as the summery makes it out to be. So far the cast includes Jeff Bridges, GarrettHedlund, Olivia Wilde, and Bruce Boxleitner.
So what do you guys think of this?

I'm kind of excited for this. I remember the original Tron film from back in the early 80s. It had some really cool effects and the light cycles were really cool. Jeff Bridges returns in this film to reprise his role from the original film. Tron has become a cult classic of sorts.
I don't really remember a whole lot about the original, but I'll probably pick it up when it comes to blu-ray. I do remember that Tron is one of the few video games I was every actually able to beat, though I'm not sure how I did it.

I am definitely psyched for this film!
As BRP said, Tron is an asbsolute classsic. What I love is that all these years later, they could quite easily have chosen to make a remake and reboot the film, but instead they're doing a sequel which to me is very interesting.
It's also great that they've got the majority of the original cast back. It's definitely one I'll be looking forward to at the end of the year!

If I remember correctly, Jeff Bridges character (Flynn?) was still in the mainframe at the end of Tron. I think Legacy involves his son going back in to get him.

Yeah, I've just had a quick read myself of the plot, etc on wikipedia and that appears to be the story.
Not the most original idea for a sequel, admittedly, but I'm looking forward to it. Tron at the time was pretty much the pinnacle of special effects, with the light cycles and the MCD, etc, so I think it'll be good with how advanced technology is at the minute, maybe it will turn out a modern version of the original?

I do agree the basic summery I'm reading isn't the most original idea. But I think Disney wants to venture back into the cult classic story with a daker edge and shimmering technical format. I think they're looking to attract an older demographic while they figure out what to do with the Pirates franchise. Maybe it's only me but I forsee a PG-13 rating for this film. lthough I could always be mistaken.

I'm thinking that PIxar may have some VFX work on Tron, but that may be my mind playing tricks on me again. Though not an original idea for a sequel, it is one that makes sense. i don't know that it makes much sense to reboot a film not many people know about, so you basically need a reason for someone to go back into the mainframe. Plus, it's something of a tribute to the dedicated fans to make a sequel as opposed to a reboot if that makes sense. It's like they're saying that they're choosing to continue the story kept alive by the fans.

That is really interesting. I never saw the original, my cousin has it, so maybe the next time I am home i should barrow it.

So will it be like Race to Witch Mountain? Kinda stuck between a sequel and a remake?

This will be much more like a sequel than a reboot.

Sounds interesting! I still need to watch the first one though! I'll have to check to see if my library has it. I've been wanting to watch the first movie ever since I played Kingdom Hearts 2 but for some reason I never got around to doing it.
