I have yet to see The Princess and the Frog but I am curious to hear what everyone's thoughts are on the soundtrack for this movie.

I love the soundtrack. The songs are a lot of fun, and the score reminds me a bit of Monsters, Inc. One thing I think that the soundtrack seems closer to the Walt era classic soundtracks than the Ashman/Menken era.

I think that the score is very pretty. Classicalesque. I like (not exactly love) all the musical songs. My favorites are Almost there and Almost Human.

I think these songs are deserving of quite a lot of credit. They fit in beautifully with the storyline and mostly serve to improve the integrity of the film. I find them to be very catchy and I love that they stay true to the movie's themes and settings.

I also like that it's the actual characters who are singing these songs and not superstars.

I purchased the soundtrack a couple of weeks back, seeing as though we're still waiting on the release over here And I have to say, I'm getting "old school" vibes for lack of a better way of putting it haha. The villain song is fantastically in synch with past villain songs, the big numbers are upbeat and extremely catchy with a good range of that to the ballads. One of my favourites at the moment that I simply cannot get out of my head is Ma Belle Evangeline Fantastic stuff! Looking forward to seeing it on the big screen with the visuals

While I really like this soundtrack, there is something extraordinary about Ma Belle Evangeline. The more I think about it, the more I think it evokes memories of classic sequences in both eras of Disney excellence. Very mild spoilers below, but don't read if you don't want to know. The more I think about it, the more it reminds me of scenes such as This is Love from Cinderella, Once Upon a Dream from Sleeping Beauty, and Kiss The Girl from The Little Mermaid. Each scene shows the characters falling in love, but without the soon to be radio hit playing in the background. Do not misunderstand as I think there have been some great pop hits to come out of Disney movies. It's just that I like how Ma Belle Evangeline echoed the older classics.

When I first left the theater I was kinda "meh" towards the songs. They were all good, but none had really stood out to me. But when I started listening to the songs indepedent of the movie, they really started to shine. Which is kind of funny, when you consider how well the songs are used to move the plot along.

That's a great point. I don't think they were going for show stopping musical numbers as much as they were going for show advancing songs. I think we've become so used to show stopping numbers from the modern era classics when in Walt's films, the songs usually just advance the story along. They became memorable because they were a part of the film, not independent from it.
