Well shivver me timbers, this is not a ride for the faint of heart, now. Tho popular 'mong the guests at the Disney parks, 'tis true, what say ye about this daring plunge into the pirates lair? Dead men tell no tales.

Sadly, during my single visit to Disney World, I didn't get to go on it. I don't know if there was a reason we skipped it...It's on my must-ride list if I ever get to go to a Disney theme park again.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that Butters! But the good news is that this attraction most likely won't be going anywhere, so you will have another chance I actually dislike this ride. I find it overrated, too long, and boring. We usually only go on this ride if it is too hot/cold outside, we're tired and want to sit down for a while, or we're hungry but want to be productive (you can eat on this ride haha). Ever since they added the whole Jack Sparrow/Davy Jones aspect to the Disneyland one, it has become immensely more popular, but I've never really figured out why. Of course, I wasn't a pirates fan to begin with, so I can see if you are a pirates > ninja type of person why this ride might be rather exciting.

Well starting with the original version, I think that it was cute and a decent ride. I think a big reason why it was/is more popular was because it was one of the original rides that Walt worked on and the technology was pretty advanced from when it came out. For me, my mom really liked it (she's not a ride person) so that really carried down of how it's a treasure for me. Sadly, I'm still very upset that they did update the rides to be parallel with the films. The films were inspired by the ride and you should have the chance to see that, but now that chance is gone. I really wish they had kept the original ride at Disneyland, because it was the original, and then updated the one at Disney World. It just makes me mad that we'll never have that ride ever again. The new one is fine, more technology advanced and takes advantage of using everyone's favorite characters. The likeness of some of the Jack Sparrow figures are pretty amazing.

This ride is just amazing. I remember not being too excited over it when I was younger, but it has become a must ride whenever I visit Disney! I just think it's so cool how they did all of the animatronics and all of the little scenes.
It was funny, today I was watching a show on VH1 and they were talking about Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl and how no one thought it'd be as successful as it was since the ride was not all that exciting. Which is true, you wouldn't really expect such an amazing movie out of a semi-entertaining ride. But that's the magic of Disney for ya. ;]

I love the ride, but I love it a bit less with the addition of the film characters. It just took away from the ride. I think it's because they had to make the characters to look like the actors. When the attraction first opened, they didn't have to worry about making it look like a certain actor. Also, I think it's difficult putting 21st century pirate models into an attraction with 1960s pirate models. I love the ride and the film, but I think the attraction was better before the update.

Pirates of the Carribean is one of my favorite attractions at Disneyland. I don't care much for the WDW version since it's literally half as long as the original version and missing a lot of the great scenes that make the attraction so famous.
I don't mind the movie additions too much. I really love the Davy Jones waterfall effect right before you enter the opening battle scene of the attraction. The storyline itself is much the same as it was before, albeit with the incorporation of Jack Sparrow and Barbossa into the ride.
What's especially interesting to me are the little touches in the films that are tied into the attraction, including some scenes in POTC 2 that come straight from Disneyland. Disneyland hosted the world premiere of all 3 POTC films, which were screened at the Rivers of America after a long red carpet stretched down Main Street USA.

Now I really wish I would've seen the original Disneyland ride. I didn't know it was that different from WDW version.

I've heard some people say that seeing Disneyland's version of POTC ruined the WDW version for them. And there are some scenes in the films that come from the Disneyland, but not the WDW version, of the ride.
When the Magic Kingdom was built, it was believed that the crowd would not care to see a New Orleans themed area since it was so close (relatively speaking) to Orlando as opposed to Anaheim. Demand for POTC was so high that eventually WDW passed out buttons to cast members that said "Pirates are coming." The MK version was something of an afterthought to the park, and built hastily. The water table also made it much tougher for the MK to craft a version of the attraction to compare favorably with Disneyland's attraction.

I love the new changes to the Pirates ride at Disney World! They've added some great additions with the new Pirates movies. Jack Sparrow pops up quite a bit on the ride and there is even a big splashy surprise when you are on the ride. I went on this twice during my recent visit. It was fantastic!
