I am in the middle of watching Pocahontas and my history radar was just set off. If you watch the scene right at the beginning where the ship is getting hit with the storm there is a shot of the flag of Great Britain! I'm sorry to dissapoint you all but that flag was not used until Scottland and Englad were joined together under one Parliment right at the turn of the 18th century not in 1607. England would have had it's own flag on it's ships. The one with the red cross on it...

very good observation , however this movie would be watched by many kids , so the cartoon makers wouldn't expect kids to recognize the english through the historical flag .They just placed the current one...forgetting that there are observative people such as yourself ^ out there

Oh, cool! Good sighting Mrs. N. I'm not too keen on English history myself. I don't know much about the flags and what not. So, I didn't notice this.

Will, the movie has never been historically accurate. But I didn't know that about the flag. I never was great in history and I mean any of the history classes I had to take. US, World and West Virginia. -_- Good eye though and nice work knowing your history.

I never noticed that, not though I'd know when England and Scotland joined together to make Great Britain.

For one she didn't fall in love with John Smith, they were merely just friends. And at the time he was a grown man, she was just a young girl, 11 or 12 I believe. she ended up marrying a man named John Rolfe later on but she did not fall in love with a man named John Smith.
