Yet another live action sequel coming our way.

Even with the mostly golden track record of producer Jerry Bruckheimer (who had thrice topped the $100 million mark for Disney branches with Nicolas Cage in a leading role), nobody quite expected National Treasure to perform as well with audiences as it did. Feeling more like Bruckheimer's Touchstone fare than the Walt Disney Pictures label it was moved to at the last moment, the PG-rated action flick narrowly claimed the #1 box office spot in November 2004 and held onto it for three straight weeks. It would end up with $173 million domestically and a tiny bit more overseas, easily making it one of the year's top-grossers. Despite an alternate ending that was dropped because it suggested a sequel, that's exactly what the producer intends to make once filming of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (the third and, for the moment, final chapter in that even more profitable Disney/Bruckheimer franchise) wraps up this fall. Director Jon Turtletaub and star Nicolas Cage are expected to return, as are supporting cast members Justin Bartha, Harvey Keitel, Jon Voight, and Diane Kruger, while Greg Poirier (the forthcoming Swiss Family Robinson remake discussed directly above) is currently credited with the screenplay, though others may still have a hand in it (the first film gave writing credits to five individuals). Thus far, plot particulars remain guarded, but one assumes viewers can expect to see some more treasure hunting. Production is supposed to begin early January 2007.

Oh no. I loved National Teasure, they can't sequal this one.
I really should open my DVD, I have to see this alternate ending before I can make any farther Judgement.

Yet another sequel. I'm surprised they aren't going to shoot a third back to back with this one. It seems the way to do things, now. >_> I'm going to laugh the day Disney loses money with one of these sequels. That will show them. Or it better show them. Grr...

I actually really liked the first one. If they have the original cast come back then I will definately go and see this film.

This is one time when I actually like the sequels. I may just see this. And here's why. Disney has proven time and time again that they believe sequels are profitable because they can "make it cheap and sell it high". Well, it doesn't work. That's Disney's way, though. This is a Jerry Bruckheimer sequel. Jerry Bruckheimer's philosophy? Same as Walt's. IF we are going to make a sequel it had better be AS GOOD AS IF NOT BETTER THAN the original. So, I may end up seeing this.

I only got to see the first one once so I don't remember much about it. I do remember that I liked it so I might just see this movie.

Actually I loved this movie yet I agree with you Air. It does not need a Sequal, I don't want a National Treasure Sequal. This one is best left alone. I will probably see it with my best friend though, thats what usually happens if she doesnt just persuade me to rent the DVD by saying
"Megan made me watch it and it was actually kinda good"
that's what happened to me with Bambi II because I was soo against seeing that one. oh and Megan is my best friend's kid sister.

I didn't mind the first movie to this, as I thought it was pretty cool, but I'm not too sure about wanting to see a second really
