Disney and Walden are teaming up yet again to bring a popular and acclaimed piece of literature to the big screen, something they've already done for Holes, Around the World in 80 Days, and The Chronicles of Narnia. Terabithia, adapted from Katherine Paterson's Newberry Medal-winning 1977 children's novel of the same name, will share Narnia's filming location; production is set to begin in New Zealand in February 2006. The film tells the story of a schoolboy who befriends the class outsider (AnnaSophia Robb, Because of Winn-Dixie and Violet in Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). Together, the two 11-year-olds create Terabithia, an imaginary kingdom filled with giants, trolls, and other magical beings. Gabor Csupo, a veteran of TV animation (he created Nickelodeon's "Rugrats" and "The Wild Thornberrys" and has long been involved with "The Simpsons" as producer and animator), is making his directorial debut here with a screenplay by David Paterson (no relation to the author). The text was previously adapted on a smaller scale in 1985. Disney is aiming for a spring 2007 release.

I've read some of the book and I'll probably see it when it comes out.
