Toy Story IS CGI... Or are they going to make this movie capable for 3D-glasses? Wtf? xD
Well I sure hope they're at least making a sequel and don't just transform the first movie into 3D-capability. This link isn't really that... informative.

I'm assuming this is a threatical release, like The Nightmare Before Christmas did recently? I'm all for seeing Toy Story on the big screen, but I'm not so sure about the 3-d part. I saw the 3-d version of TNBC last year; it was fun, but I would've enjoyed a regular re-release just as much.

You know, the most annoying thing about the 3D glasses is when you already wear regular glasses... Wear them over the glasses - you don't have the right view Wear them without the glasses - you don't see anything
I used to wear them under the glasses in direct contact with my skin which was getting pretty uncomfortable with my eyelids and such, but yeah... what else was I supposed to do?
As for a 3D-Toy Story movie - wasn't there just a single effect that you could lay over something to make it 3D? Why all the complexity? It just costs money... and in case it's the same movie that's gonna be useless to infinity and beyond. Probably nice - but useless... oo"
I remember I once saw that 4D movie at Disney Land (Paris) "Honey I shrunk the audience" That was... one heck of an awesome thing xD

Haha I hear ya with the 3-D glasses! Darn annoying!! xD Same with sunglasses, actually xP xD yeah, I really don't get why they're bothering - It's probably beacuse they havent got any new ideas to persue, so are trying to suck all the money out of Toy Story while they can >.> Yeah, that was awesome

I believe that Pixar might be releasing this as 3D cinema is coming into its own genre of film now, with it being much more accessible and much less like the old blue/red glasses we're used to. And also Dreamworks have said the majority of their productions from now on, are going to be 3D ventures. Competition from Pixars side me thinks...

.....the original Toy Story in 3D?!? it might be neat......but Pixar practially animates in 3D anyway since everything is so realistic. But if it is on the big screen.....hmmmm

It's definitely going to be of the 3-D glasses variety. A few thoughts about this release. It honestly does not bother me in the least. In fact I was living outside of the U.S. when the first Toy Story was released so I never had the opportunity to see it on the big screen.
As for Disney milking this project for all it's worth, they've been doing that for years. Toy Story is far from the first film to be re-released, nor is it the first film to get some sort of special treatment for a re-release since both Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King were re-released in IMAX format. Disney used to regularly re-release films on the big screen once every 7 years or so. I remember going to see The Little Mermaid with a friend of mine in the theater in 1997, 7 years after the original 1989 release.
This release will give people, including kids who were born after these films were released a chance to experience these films on the big screen, and that's not a bad thing.

It's not the re-release that bothers me. I'm all for that. It's just that the 3-D thing feels kinda gimmicky. I mean, what's wrong with a regular re-release?

Yeah I agree Butters. I'd personally prefer just a regular release.
We were studying this in Film Studies actually as there's a growing spate of 3D films and the reason being is that audience demand for 3D is surprisingly big, and growing.
The studios are tending to put out 3D releases of films that are already established (The Nightmare Before Christmas for example) as they've already proven to be successful so instead of putting out a brand new film that might have a wavering opening, putting out an already highly successful film but in 3D and its going to be much more prosperous.
