So I was just doing some thinking today about lots of stuff, and the song "Reflections" from Mulan popped into my head. I started thinking the lyrics to myself, and I relized how much I like this song. In the past I've always shied away from it because of it's massive popularity. I don't only like it because of the music, but the lyrics and the mood it creates. From that, I thought of you guys . There are far too many Disney songs to list in a poll, so I knew it would be better to leave this to an open ended discussion that is limitless. So, what are some Disney songs that you hold dear to your heart because you relate to it? ((I'll name some more later =p))

I really love one line from the Sleeping Beauty Lullaby when the 3 good fairies put the castle to sleep as it represents what I want to do someday.
Sleeping Beauty fair, gold of sunshine in your hair Lips that shame the red, red rose, Dreaming of true love in slumber repose. One day, he will come riding out of the dawn[/b] And you'll awaken to love's first kiss, 'Til then Sleeping Beauty, sleep on.

"God Help the Outcasts" is a song that speaks to me. I've often felt like an outcast myself, and wonder if anyone cares for me (I like to have pity parties when I'm PMSing >_>; and the vulnerabilty and hopefulness of this song appeal to me

My lyrical conection would have to be from Reflection in Mulan. "When will my reflection show who I am inside!" This speaks to me so deeply because in many ways I am this young girl who is still trying to achieve her soul search and find what path would best fit the person I'm trying to become. But my struggles and obstecles are from being accomplished. But that's one of my missions: to find the reflection of the woman I'm longing to reach invest myself into.

My Funny Friend and Me is one that I relate to a lot. It's all about the unspoken feelings between friends and the fact that there is a deep love there. I feel that *nods* And can I just say, Silver I love your banner!

I think Poor Unfortunate Souls. I just feel lost and alone and would probably risk anything to be liked... beautiful... ect. I'd end up like the little creatures attached to the inside of her cave. Scary.

I Love to Laugh is my theme song. I am constantly laughing and enjoying myself. I don't believe in frowning.

When you look at Mary Poppins, I believe that film may have been Walt Disney's response to his critics. Note the so called antagonists of the film, the bankers. So many of the songs in that film were absolutely brilliant, and not solely for their catchy music.

I'm also deeply connected to the song "You'll Be in my Heart"! I relate to this piece on so many levels. I understand how difficult it is to leave the loved ones behind to begin a new life all together. And I know what it's like to care of someone it seems society doesn't seem to accept but you love so passionatley because that person has brought out a soul you didn't even know could exist. I think this is one of Disney's most lyrical and vocally driven songs. And it continues to resignate so much it almost hurts. I've actually cried and smiled several times when listening to this piece.

I connect to 3 songs actually. "I Wont Say (I'm in Love)" because I've gotten scarred so many time in my life there was a point in time I tried to disconnect from all my emotions. "Part Of Your World" because I want more than what I have, and kind of long for someday when I can be a part of something than what I am and have. "Reflections" Because sometimes I don't know who I am and where I'm going. Life just gets so complex, and me lost in the middle sometimes.

I think "Reflections" is a really easy one to relate to, especially when you're growing up because its the stuff that you have to think about when you're faced with peer pressure and school.

Well most of my teenage life was spent at home or the hospital so I never had to deal with peer pressure. But you're right..."Reflections" is easy to relate to. I think at some point everyone can relate to that song.

I think this is the second Disney song that I can relate to the most: I'll Try from Peter Pan 2 I’m not a child now I can take care of myself I mustn’t let them down now Mustn’t let them see me cry I’m fine, I’m fine I’m too tired to listen I’m too old to believe all these childish stories There is not such thing as faith and trust and pixie dust
(Chorus) I try but it’s so hard to believe I try but I can’t see what you see I try, I try, I try
My whole world is changing I don’t know where to turn I can leave you waiting but I can’t stay and watch the city burn (oh) watch it burn
(Chorus) Cause, I try but it’s so hard to believe I try but I can’t see what you see I try, I try, I try
I try and try to understand the distance in between the love I feel, the things I fear and every single dream
I can finally see it Now I have to believe all those precious stories The whole world is made of faith and trust and pixie dust
So I’ll try because I finally believe I’ll try because I can see what you see I’ll try, I’ll try, I’ll try to fly

Oh I love I'll Try. I didn't know it was a Disney song, Jesse McCartney did a version of it.

Oh yes "I'll try" is a fantastic song! But instead of the film it originated from, I always think of Freddie Highmore's performance in Finding Neverland and how depressing it can be. (I also deeply relate to what emotional trama he was surviving.
