Cinderella was nominated for three Academy Awards in 1950 - Best Song, Best Score and Best Sound Recording.
I'd have to say that this movie is defiantely worthy of these nominations. I really love this movie and the songs. I really enjoy watching the mice and birds. My favourite scene has to be when the mice and birds are making Cinderella her dress.

Cinderella is a good movie. Not one of my all-time favorites though. I like the mice, but Cinderella herself I find annoying.

This was an OK movie, I'm not very big on the Princess flicks.

I love Cinderella. I've always felt like I've related to her both by personality & looks. Her ball gown is one of the nicest. I love the songs too.

Outa all the movies before The Little Mermaid, this one is my favorite. I know quality wise, Sleeping Beauty tops it by far, but I really enjoy this story a lot more. I love Jacques and the idea of a Fairy Godmother. I think the scene where her ruined dress turns into her ball dress is breath taking. I love the music too, especially The Work Song. I think its cool that the cat is named Lucifer, after the devil. Cinderella herself doesn't strike me strong personality wise, but not many females did in that era of film.

It always got me wondering why Cinderella never stood up for herself against the evil stepmother. I know she's kind and all but to let others completely control you and treat you like crap? If someone did that to me, I'd beat the hell outta them (not literally, but you know what I mean) because I'm very quick to anger, so even though I feel I relate to Cinderella (because I had to do lots of work in the farm when I was little), in a way I probably can relate to Ariel or Jasmine too cuz they sort of did what they wanted, lol.

Probably because she'd be kicked out and she couldn't bear leaving her animal friends in the hands of Lucifer and the house was hers, where she grew up. Her only ties with her parents. In Ever After, a Cinderella story, Danielle is a very strong minded person and she keeps working for her stepfamily too.

I was treated badly as a child and teen. With me as with Cinderella it started when i was young enough that i didn't know it wasn't normal. By the time i realized how badly i was being treated it was too late to change it so i put with it like Cinderella did until my prince came. But for all that i can relate to Cinderella it is not my favorite. The Birds and the Mice are adorable and Cinderella is sweet. I like Luicfer even though he is mean!

I think this film has a powerful message. In spite of all the horrible things that Cinderella went through, she did not let those things influence who she was. Instead of responding with cruelty, she chose to be kind. And that kindness is why the Prince fell in love with her. Who she was made her stand out far more than whatever magic the Fairy Godmother worked. It's one reason why I liked Cinderella III. It finally showed the substance that Cinderella had all along.
I believe that Disney's 3 original princesses had a special strength to them that makes them special even today. Cinderella is a positive role model for anyone who has lived with a cruel and rotten person. You don't have to continue the cycle, but instead can break it. I think too many people dismiss the virtues of the first 3 Disney princesses too quickly, not realizing that their strength and dignity paved the way for the next generation.

Cinderella is a good movie. Not one of my all-time favorites though. I like the mice, but Cinderella herself I find annoying. I second this, I dunno what it is about cinderella.. Probably the fact that she put up with that rubbish for all her life and couldn't even escape her own room... c'mon, she must've had something in that room of hers to break that door with XD She was probably just too "damsel in distress" for me... I mean, I would'nt stand being pushed around in my own home.... kick them out for jeebus sake loool. mm but yeh, overall its a guurd movie the mice are uber, but I wish they had included buttons... but I supposed that owuld've made it too complicated for children... mm yeh.. lol

I understand why there's mixed feelings about Cinderella. On one side she doesn't relate all too well with contemorary women. But considering when the film was made I can ignore it. But regarding the statement on how she's a "Damsel in Distress" I think is unfair. From what I veiwed, all the Disney heroines (including Belle, Mulan, & Jasmine) had that moment where the love-interest had to save the day. I think there's very few films where the woman is actually titled as the "true" heroine who not only saves the rest of the cast. But has "the strength of a bear, and heart of a lion". On the other side she's classy, always maintains her composure, and shows the deepest respect for authorities. Not too many people have patience like that.
