I figured - Iago fans in general have the biggest devotion to Return of Jafar. *points to her avatar* I think that pretty much explains it for me. Lol.
I like the songs in the second one to - Particularly "I'm Lookin' Out for Me" and "Forget About Love."

I love this movie, its in my top ten. I like all the characters pretty much, they'll all really great that not one stands out to be the best outa them all, but they all shine when comparing to other Disney characters. I love the Whole New World theme and its nice to have a romance through the male character's view and not the female. Robbin Williams is great as the Genie and I was disappointed that he didn't return for the second film. The sequals are okay, probably better than others.

I know this is random and probalby a bit off-topic but it seems that the disney males with more personality (shown) are Aladdin, Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty & John Smith from Pocahontas.

All animal movies have pretty big male parts and the ones that aren't romance, like Pinnochio, Peter Pan, and Sword of the Stone (Wart). I think Prince Eric has a personality that is more than Cinderella's Prince Charming and Snow White's Prince, but not as big as Aladdin, but you do see him.

This is one of my all- time favorite films! And ranks third on my Disney list. (Just a smidge behind The Lion King and The Little Mermaid) Maybe one of the reasons I connect so deeply with it is because I can relate to Aladdin's journey. I know how it feels to be judged, overlooked, confused, and stay positive. This may follow along the lines of "Rags to Riches" but how the plot is projected only adds the element of a feel-good time. There's a variety of genres involved that many audience members can enjoy. It's an adventure, romance, comedy, and musical! I adore almost all the characters. Aladdin is not without his own flaws but in the end but that's one reason why I was cheering for him til the very end. Jasmine is a wonderful supporting lady. She's feisty, giving, and strong! She's the kind of girl I admire on-screen. Genie- the only word I can sum up is "hilarious". Iago follows close behind. If I wasn't laughing, I was at least smiling through most of their scenes. It's just one of those films that will never fade with it's astounding magic!

I watched this movie the other day for the first time in a few years. I've sometimes wondered if Aladdin's humor is dated. Do kids nowadays get the Arsenio Hall impression? Do they know Aladdin wears Hammer pants? But when I watched it the other I realized it doesn't matter.
When I first saw Aladdin back in 1992 at age 13, I might've gotten the more current references, but many went right over my head. Even though I wasn't giving it my full attention the other night, I got many of the things I didn't get as a kid. Even if some of the humor is dated, much of it is timeless.
I was also reminded of just how much I love the entire Aladdin franchise: the orginal movie, the sequels and the TV series are all so fun! Action, adventure, romance, humor, magic...what more can you want? ;D

Exactly as you said Butters!^^ There is a much greater meaning to this film then just the humor. (Some in fact is dated, but certainly not to the point where you can't laugh) I think when this film was first promoted there was so much attention towards Robin Williams' wiscracks (and still is) it alomst drowned out what a beautiful story this film has. It's about friendship, a human connection between people who are fro two oppisite classes, and self-acceptance. And that's what keeps the story so memerable and timeless. There's enough lessons like these to put into our cruel and corrupt world.

I love this film, but the humor is very dated. While I enjoy it a lot, I just can't call it timeless because it's forever rooted in the pop culture of the early 90s. It does have a lot of timeless elements, but the Genie is the star of the show and he's not exactly timeless(though Robin Williams performance is). In some ways I almost think that in order to fully understand the brilliance of this film that you have to know the pop culture of the early 90s to fully appreciate it.
I'm not sure if Disney knows what to do with this film because of that. As well done as it is, it has not aged well because of the pop culture permeating it.

All I can say is I love this movie. I've loved this movie since I first saw it in theaters. Favorite character is definitely Genie. Cause I am a big Robin Williams fan.

I'm not sure that's true BRP, that it hasn't aged well. It's actually one of the favorites of the eight year old girls that my mom teaches. Part of it is that they love Jasmine, she's their favorite Princess and with reason. She is a very modern, strong, and independent woman, who still gets her fairy tale ending in the end. The other is that A Whole New World has been kept alive and with just those two things leads them to be captivated by the film. I think it will take this film just as long to die out as will Cinderella. You can bet they have no idea what the 90s references are about, and in a matter of fact, I really don't know many of them myself, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying the movie.

Perhaps a better way to phrase it is that the film remains rooted in the early 1990s. The characters and story are certainly strong enough to carry the movie and help keep it enjoyable for those who don't get the humor. And that I suppose is my main point. Aladdin is a great film, but I don't think that it's as beloved as the other Disney fairy tales. I believe it's because it's not as well understood (because of the humor) than those other films.

Aladdin is absolutely one of my favs, could be because this was one of the movies we had at home on tape, so I could watch it frequently. I grew up with the dutch version and I prefer some of the dutch voices over the english onces, I have to admit xD, but Robin Williams can't be compared, that's one of the few english voices I really like, together with the voice of Jafar xD. for the dutch version of A Whole New World: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTgUD9PsZR0&feature=relatedMe and a friend quote Aladdin a lot, but often no one but us and another friend understands it, so we get some blank faces from other people xD So I more or less grew up with this movie and started to like it more when some people in high school seemed to like it too, so we could listen the songs together etc xD
