I think I need the Bluray just for Frozen Fever! So far it is the most adorable little thing I've seen this year. I'll let you know if the Minions take first place after I see the film. I can't imagine you not laughing at a certain scene. Or pretty much anyone who was a fan of Frozen. The entire short movie was cute but one scene really tickled the funny bone.

As I expected, the movie continues to impress on the small screen. As an FYI, all but one of the deleted scenes are only available to view on Disney Movies Anywhere. They are not on disc, so in order to see them you will need to redeem your digital copy.
I will briefly review the bonus features. Suffice it to say, this live action remake is stunning and well worth watching. It's even managed to enchant quite a few people who are not at all interested in the animated classic that this film pays such loving tribute to or the Disney fairy tales in general.
Now for the bonus features.
A Fairy Tale Come To Life is maybe 15 minutes long at most. While I really enjoyed it, it's yet another example of Disney really cutting back on bonus features in recent years. It's too bad. I would love to hear more about the process behind making this film, including the early troubles it faced when the story was setting out to be a dark retelling. I would have been interested in hearing a lot more about the casting process and seen more interviews than the brief soundbites we got spread throughout the assorted bonus features. The feature itself is fine, but really should have been so much longer. Tell viewers more about the connective tissue between the animated classic and this one.
Costume fun is essentially a publicity video showing different photo shoots of the actors. Has its moments, but could have been so much more. This movie could well win the Oscar for costume design, yet they pay so little attention to that process. The interesting costume choices beyond the ball were not touched on.
Staging the Ball is a nice feature about the film's signature set piece. This does go into detail about the costumes designed for the ball which many of the extras saying how incredible it was to wear such detailed costumes that would be front and center in almost any other film. There are interviews with Lily James and Richard Madden about preparing for that first dance. This is a solid feature. Wish there were a few more like it on the disc.
Ella's Furry Friends is really aimed at the younger ones. Talks about the various animals who were in the movie.
Alternate opening Ella's Childhood is an extended/deleted scene that shows a few more minutes about Ella's life before her mother passed away. Honestly, most of the time when I watch deleted scenes it feels like we're really just watching an early rough draft that got discarded because it doesn't really work at all. That is not the case with Cinderella. The scene adds more context.
Frozen Fever is the animated brand new Frozen short that preceded the movie in theaters. If you liked Frozen, you'll probably like Frozen Fever.
Disney Movies Anywhere Bonus Material. Note that the features listed below are only found on the Disney Movies Anywhere app or website after you have redeemed your digital copy. If you try to find these features on disc, you will never find them there.
With the exception of the Ella's childhood scene previously described, all other deleted scenes are on Disney Movies Anywhere. Serving is a short scene that shows Ella's transformation from stepdaughter to household servant girl. It's an interesting scene, but much of its content shows up later in the film so I can understand why it was cut.
The Mourning is an extended view on how things unfolded after Ella's father passed away. Whereas the finished cut of the movie opted to simply show Lady Tremaine's cruelty to Ella, this scene sets it forth in no uncertain terms. The films shows the Tremaines wearing elaborate black mourning gowns and Ella with but a black ribbon in her hair. The scene explains that Lady Tremaine ordered 3 gowns for her and her daughters, gave Ella the ribbon, and details other cruel acts. If only because it further showcases the cruelty of Lady Tremaine I wish they had kept it in the film.
Getting To Know You is an extension of the secret garden scene after Ella and Kit dance at the ball. Between the beautiful musical score underpinning the background and further character exposition of both Ella and Kit, I wish they had kept this one in.
Searching for Cinderella has the Grand Duke confronting Ella on the road after the carriage has turned back into a pumpkin and her dress back in rags. Adds some dramatic tension, but another scene cut later removes the need for this one.
Dear Mr. Kit has Ella writing Kit a letter where she thanks him for a wonderful evening and explains that she wants to see him again. She promises to answer his questions and reveals that she is sometimes called Cinderella. This scene ends in a painful and heartbreaking fashion.
While the final film is near perfect anyways, I still wish some of these deleted scenes were kept in. They added an additional layer of depth and intrigue. But this is not a case where deleted scenes also deleted key plot points from the final film (I'm looking at you Star Wars Episode II). The ideas clearly laid forth in the deleted scenes are also in the final film albeit some in a more subtle manner.
Target Only Bonus Feature. If you purchased the Target exclusive version of the film, it also contained one 15 minute featurette called Something Magical/Becoming the Prince. It offers a brief look at some of the visual effects, mostly focusing on the various transformations when the Fairy Godmother shows up and talks about the casting process for Kit. This feature is only on Disney Movies Anywhere and only viewable there if you purchased the Target exclusive. Note buying the film at Target isn't enough. You had to purchase the one with an exclusive to Target sticker on the front.
