Gotham is a brand new TV show. It's season premier was last night. It's a brand new look at the world of Batman before "the bat" It focuses on Detective Jim Gordon when he first joins the Gotham PD. The story starts when Bruce Wayne's parents are murdered and Jim Gordon and his partner are assigned to the case. As the show progresses we got to see some of the villains when they were younger. I was surprised to see that they introduced so many right off the bat. However, I wonder if they will focus on them like that each episode.
All in all I can't wait to watch more of this show! I'm already looking forward to next weeks episode!

Me and a friend were discussing this show today. I feel that they introduced a lot of big characters too fast. However... I feel that they were just trying to set the scene before the bat. Build up what Gotham was then. So hopefully, it will slow down next week and concentrate on a story line. One thing that didn't jive with me was their portrayal of The Penguin. And that's perhaps because I cannot get Danny DeVito's adaptation out of my head. He was such a good Penguin. Lol! But overall, I have hope for this show. It has potential. And as a Batman fan, I'm willing to give it a few more episodes to test the waters!

Now that I've seen two more episodes, I can say that it is a great show thus far. I'm am really enjoying. And after tonight's episode, I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for next Monday. Penguin has shown up so now I'm just ticking days off the calendar. lol

SPOILERS IN MY FIRST PARAGRAPH OF THE SECOND EPISODE!
Now I've seen and read my share of stories filled with disturbing, gruesome and downright twisted content. So I felt going into this series I'd be equipped to handel what would lie ahead. But I'll never be prepared to handel the subject matter of humman tracfficking! Especially when they are willing to venture further into this topic and involve minors. Please tell me I'm not the only one who felt their sense were being jarred when they revealed what they had planned for their victims?
SPOILERS OVER NOW!
I already find this to be a compelling thriller. How does one battle the a war between the devil and the deep blue sea? Jim Gordan is about to find out. Everywhere he turns is dishonesty, brutality and mystery. And he has laid his own life on the line to follow through on a promise he is unlikeley able to keep. As such, it's the ultimate chess match. Who will end speaking the inconic words of "Check mate"?

I'm with you, Silver. They are exploring some deep subjects. With the human trafficking. But that means they aren't afraid to push the envelope. Which can be good for future episodes!

Ari- Being as I've seen my share of "uncensored" material from the channels of Showtime and HBO. I suppose I was under a false pretense network television would handle a subject like this more delicatley. NOPE! FOX is not timid at all. Harvey Bulluck didn't have any qualms about willingness to hit a teen who was over 5'9 ft tall. (Although I fearless maybe too big a word as Jim did step in before he threw a punch) Nor did the woman under orders to deliver the "cargo" on time and at full capacity. She didn't heistate in aim her gun at Selina's foreheard. let's just say it's been a along time since I've seen charatcers who are minors in script where they are not sugar coated with protection. They are at risk as much as the adults of Gotham.
On to the next episode. Jim is in a real pickle now. Failed to comply to the citizens of Gotham who feel ripped off by priviledged induviduals who believe strongly in the idea of "Too big too fail." Now the citizens (one by one) are deciding to take drastic action against public figures who have abused the justice system to their advantage. This organized crime has Jim in a bind alright.
Fish Moooney seems a little rash. I initially thought she'd have more of a calm and collected control if her wish is to run every mob in the city. No she's tempremental and prutlant. She's really going to get it if she doesn't keep herself in check. Probably from none other then The Penguin. He seems a lot more intune with his sense of strategy. Slow and steady wins the race.
Okay I hate to be the debbie downer but I can not stand the actress they chose for Barbra. Now I have nothing against actresses who are beautiful. My issue is those who are just plain bland. The actress who is playing Renee understands the technique of subtle but engaging. Then Jada Pinkett Smith as Fish Mooney who is fantastic with her theatrical but smooth approach. This woman playing Barbra just screams "I got the role because I am pretty." Not working for me.

Silver, I have to admit that I am with you on Barbara... She just got the job as a pretty face. I really feel that the character, at this point, is not essential to the story and we could do without her. Harsh, but true.

I love this show right now. SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER The newest episode totally creeped me out with the new drug that crushed their bones and then suffocated them though. I mean each episode creeps me out to a point but that is literally a horrible way to go. But then again so was the balloonman's method. I'm curious to see more of Little Bruce and how Wayne Enterprise is going to turn around.

I really want to like this series, but I'm not sure it knows what it wants to be yet.

I'm still fascinated. The end of this past Monday's episode had me on the edge of my seat! I so didn't want it to end like that and leave me on the edge of my seat!

Fair to say we're all gearing up for this showdown. As if wrecking havoc on the city wasn't enough. Now we've got a full blown war on it's way. No more metephors. It will be literal.
Everybody should scatter now while they can before every mob starts going at each other's throats.

Yes!
Last weeks episode, although good, was boring. So upset when in the last minute of the episode, all the excitement was packed in! So eager for Monday's episode!

I watched. I knew it was too soon for any "rash" decisions. I still think we are veering closer and closer to that point. With egos larger then life and tempers on edge. Somebody will make a drastic move soon. The question is who will be the one to surrender when the war does come? Only one side can win. I should be surprised at the violence level after what happened in the second episode. But I'm never ready.
Sharp objects (including freakishly long manicured nails) give me the willies. :/
I'm guessing you have no issue with those Ari considering you've said you have watch far more graphic and grusome content. I don't know how you do it.
