Unfortunately out of that list I only have two of those: Eugene cutting Rapunzel's hair and Will and Elizabeth's battle/impromptu wedding.

I thought the most romantic moment in Hercules was Meg giving up her life to save Hercules, because it showed more character development on her end than his giving up godhood to stay with her

It shows that she wasn't really a bad apple after all! I also really like Wall E and EVE's relationship esp when Wall E is showing her his world. |

Ray and Evangeline are to die for. Absolutely adorable!!!
I think the Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann scene had more passion than the others. Very romantic.
Jack and Sally... They make me cry every time. And I have to say when Beast releases Belle... Those are right up there together.

I am so thrilled to see someone else recognized Aladdin and Jasmine's interaction in his home as romantic! I always adored this scene. When I first heard the quote "Listening is the sincerest form of flattery". (By an anoyonmous) I immidiatley thought of this. This is exactlty what is happening. So tragic it is not appricaited enough. I also can't say enough praise on the writing of Beauty and the Beast. It belongs on the list of "Most romantic films in all of Cinema". (Voted by the American Film Institute) This film is one among many reasons that speak for itself why it has been placed as such. As for Pixar. I was going to say the exact same thing. All about Wall-E and Up.  |

I tend to be more traditional in my definition of romantic scenes. While I agree with some on this list, in a few cases, I choose a different scene from the movie in question even though I understand the reasoning behind the choice they made.
1a. Prince Phillip fights a fire breathing dragon Maleficent to rescue Aurora in Sleeping Beauty.
1b. Once Upon a Dream from Sleeping Beauty. The first Disney romantic scene that really made an impression on me. The forest animals pretending to be Briar Rose's dream prince right before her (unbeknownst to both of them) prince shows up captivated by her beautiful voice echoing throughout the forest. Some Disney historians argue this scene to be the most beautiful scene in Disney animation.
2. I See the Light from Tangled. A stunning and breathtaking scene. The floating lanterns in the sky and the duet sang by Flynn and Rapunzel gets me every time. It may be a long time before another CGI animated scene matches this one for romantic beauty.
3. Bella Notte from Lady and The Tramp. The scene has a sweet charm to it with the accordion playing in the background while the dogs eat their spaghetti dinner. And the spaghetti noodle kiss and meatball nudge seal the whole thing. Pure Disney romantic magic. As a side note, while eating at what is now Tutto Italia in Epcot a week after my parents anniversary, we told the accordion player who was visiting the tables that we were celebrating my parents anniversary. He proceeded to play Bella Notte.
4. The Beast saves Belle from the wolves in Beauty and the Beast. Every time I watch this film, I think of this as the scene where their relationship starts to change. Before this point, the Beast is a selfish monster, yet at great risk to himself, he goes into the forest and saves Belle from the wolves. In the next moment where she is dressing his wounds, we begin to see the hints of tenderness that come later on in the film.

Adding Giselle and Robert to my list. But I'm going to hone in on a particular moment in the dance that caught me. With several waltz's in Disney films. What made this one special to me was how Robert went outside his comfort zone because he wants Giselle to be happy. Gotta be honest, Patrick Dempsey is not a singer but when a man sing/speaks a song for the woman he cares for. Even I get butterflies in the stomach and feel the need to let out a sigh. Amy Adams's reaction to this is priceless. Her face tells you everything you need to know about where her heart stands. |

That actually makes me wonder now if he was supposed to sing to her at all. Like they wanted a genuine reaction out of Ms. Adams so they told Dempsey to sing to her at some point.

Looks as if I must purchase the blu-ray now to hear the audio commentary. Perhaps the director Kevin Lima could shed light on whether this was improvised or planned from the beginning. Here is what I do know. Patrick himself would be the first one to say he is not a good singer. The creative team asked if he would be apart of the project. Not just for the McDreamy effect though. He is the definition of a modern prince charming. He embodies everything Robert needs to display. Especially as a loving but firm father of a young daughter. They had to cut out any possible song moments (that had been early development drafts and that would be recorded on the soundtrack) since his voice is too scratchy and breathy. Not solid and smooth as is required of a vocalist. Gerard Butler was slammed for his performance as the lead in The Phantom of the Opera 2004 film because he is not a trained singer. Disney did not want the same thing to happen to Patrick because his acting is so good for the role of Robert. So they were better off leaving his charatcer without out any music. This might have been the exception to the rule. Robert singing along and not claiming to be a good singer. But his intensions toward Giselle are genuine. |

In the end, I think Enchanted was a better story because Robert Dempsey is not a singer. The contrast between Giselle's Disney Princess come to life in modern day and Robert's cynicism about romance added depth to the emotional arc of that story. Because he did not sing, the breakout into song moments made the film funny. And they added real depth to the hard fought romance that became the hallmark of the story.
In my opinion, Enchanted says that happily ever after can also happen in real life, but that in our world it requires sacrifice, understanding, patience, and a lot of hard work. Had the story been a animated musical come to live action, it would have lost some of that meaning.

I'd would like to offer my own honorable mention. Most likely too soon to be conisdered in the list. But I was touched by Kristoff's determination to see to it Anna was kissed by Hans to save her life. "Take her to Prince Hans immediatley. Make sure she's safe." I knew I liked that guy from the beginning. |
